183000 miles, brand new rebuilt Carter Carb.

Proper set-up for the idle(s)?

Live in NE PA. Vehicle get only to about 155 deg F (according to gauge), reads around 200 in summer. Does everybody else run this cold in the winter?[addsig]

Sounds like a Jeep that has a stuck open or missing thermostat. [img]modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] [addsig]

You didnt say but I am assuming you are running a 258ci with the 2 barrel carb, and manual tranny, if you are follow these specs:

Initial timing at curb idel ( vacuum hose disconected) set to 6 degrees

curb idel speed rpm set to 650

Hope this helps

i have a 180 degree thermostat in my XJ and thats about what i get temperature wise- 155 ish... in the summer i near 210 when i'm idling, it backs off when i get moving. if i wanted it warmer, i'd pick up a 195 degree t-stat. [addsig]

Yes, this is a 258, with a manual tranny

I'm running a 195 tstat and have cardboard in front of the rad. That's how I get the 155 gauge reading. It was around 135/140 before the cardboard.

This is a new tstat, because I thought the old one was stuck open. I did not notice the jeep running any warmer with the new tstat.[addsig]
