Re: exhaust help
Sounds like you may just need a glass-pack, I was surprised at how good they sound on a 4.0L Wrangler. Not loud and obnoxious, but a healthy rumble. If you want to spend some coin, then the Banks Monster cat-back is a good sounding system.

Re: exhaust help
Thanks man, i just got my jeep runnin today(i had to drop a new fuel pump in it). All thats in the jeeps now is the catilitic converter, i have no exhaust and it sounded pretty good. I was thinking to just straight it back from the cat.

Re: exhaust help
I got my jeep runnin and it sounds pretty good. It's only got the catilitic converter on it. If it will pass emisions like that I'm going to keep it that way. But I would like it to be a little bit louder. Any ideas???

Re: exhaust help
Where are you located? Most state vehicle emission inspections are going to require a full exhaust system. Also, most organized runs won't let you run with an open exhaust system. What sound's good to you may be pretty annoying to most others. It sounds like you are looking for a "muffler." If so, check out the FlowMaster Super 44 or Super 44 Off Road. Small, good sound and the Off Road model is relatively bullet-proof.

I'm in Ga. I've heard that it will pass emisions how it is but I want a little more rumble out of it if I can get it. I've got a straight six and it's only got the catilitic converter on it

Re: exhaust help
If your setup now is essentially the header, head pipe and catalytic converter(s), the only way you are going to get more "rumble" is to eliminate everything after the headers and just run open headers. I can't imagine running a Jeep on the street like this, the noise would be deafening, your neighbors would hate you, I'd think this would give a bad rap to all other Jeepers and I would imagine a cop magnent, as well.
Take a look at this article from JP Magazine and see if it helps...

Re: exhaust help
im not going to run straight headers, im thinking about putting a straight pipe back from the cat and seeing how that sounds, then maybe a glass pack or a magna flow muffler on it.

Re: exhaust help
I had a 2000 sport with a 4.0... The cat got plugged up so i hollowed it out, then i unbolted the muffler from the cat, i cut the pipe as close to the muffler as i could with a sawzall. I then shoved the flange into a cherry bomb glasspack and welded that together... bolt it all back up and discard the rest of the parts from the muffler back. Thing sounded awesome. Killed my gas milage, but it rumbled... alot. and wasnt to loud as to annoy people or give me tickets.
