There is no replacement for displacement. I dont know of any turbos but I like the idea of adding a V8[addsig]

I think there is a company that makes superchargers. I think the name of the company is avenger. I also know that Venom makes a nitrous kit, that works really well my friend had one in his jeep for a while.[addsig]

I've never seen a turbo on any stock AMC engine.
That's not to say that it can't be done, I mean the compression on a the 4.0l and 4.2l is low enough that you COULD pull it off, but i doubt you would really want to.
Also judging by the commonality of engine swaps it would be much better to swap in a engine that is already turbo'ed than to put a non-turboed engine through the stresses of retrofiting a turbo or supercharger.
(Or at LEAST swap in an engine that has been well explored as far as tubo retrofits)[addsig]

being a former rice-boy (hondas!) i can say that turbos perform best at high RPM's... right where you're NOT driving the thing. the cost for a turbo would be probably half of the price of a 350 swap, and it wouldn't do you a bit of good. [addsig]

If you want to force feed it and still be able to use it like it was intended for (low rpm) then you'll have to supercharge it[addsig]

If you want to turbo or nitrous something, by a honda. [img]modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] [img]modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] [img]modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] [img]modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] -put in a V8 if you want some real power.
You can put a turbo on it, but the amount of $$ you would have in it you could have a RELIABLE V8 that would get you and your Jeep just about anywhere you needed to go.
-Wasn't intended to sound arogant or anything, just stating my opinions on turbos...
By the way- welcome to Jeepz tj-angler-[addsig]

Lission you have a jeep, not an import piece of crap! Turbo is for a four banner that wishs it could go fast! I bet you don't have a 4.2 or a 4.0 , probably a 2.5... if you want power get a 350 block and build it up[addsig]

hey lets keep it simple no raggin on the performance cars esp. imports... Jeeps climb walls... performance cars move... bottom line if you want power and not make a HUGE effort in doing some huge swap supercharge it... Eatons blower they use on the Rivera is avail. with a kit for a wrangler... and avenger makes a supercharger as well.[addsig]

The straight is a great out of the box motor, put its not the
best at producing mind boggling horsepower. On Dan
McKeag's 2000 tj (Viper TJ builder) before he did the
4.7L V8 swap, he had a supercharged and stroked six.
It produced like 360 hp's, not too shabby, but I bet
with his connections it still cost him $3500 to put that
motor together. That would buy a good crate zz4 350.[addsig]

If your wondering, my tj stock ran the quarter in 16.88
@ 72mph. Last year with 35's and 4.56's it was 16.96
@ 70mph. My friends buzz-bomb eclipse tubro ran it
stock over 17. With all the retard mods its a 16.6 and
it probably couldnt get a 200 on a 20 degree ramp.[addsig]
