What's the largest tire size for a 2005 Wrangler Rubicon?

Hi there, I'm a first time Jeep owner looking for some advice when it comes to replacing my stock tires. I just recently bought my Jeep (2005 Wrangler Rubicon), but I will have to replace the tires fairly soon. What's the largest tire size I can go without getting a lift? Also, what are the best tires to go with? I do a fair amount of highway driving (15,000 miles/year) but also enjoy hitting the local trails on the weekend. Any help would be great.

with absolutly no mods 33's, or the metric equ. It will rub on the control arms a little, if it bothers you, get spacers or after market rims with less backspace. you can fit 35's with flat fenders and a 1.5" rear stretch

And if you plan to do some light wheeling and highway use, AT tires is probably the way to go. Although, I have to say, my BFG MT KM2's are very quiet for an MT tire...

I have a 95 YJ with stock wheels. I just bought 31 BFG AT,s. I ended up having to remove the third break light and buying a new spare tire carrier. When I make sharp turns I get tire rub on the inside of the wheelwell/rods. But it looks better.

Book Review: Motorbooks workshop: Four-Wheelers bible 2nd Edition
By Jim Allen.

Everyone’s got a bathroom, a coffee table, a night stand by your bed and
The Four-wheelers Bible should be there ready to read. This great book covers it all from axle gears to lifts, bigger tires to first aid kits and so much more.
This is truly the Four-wheelers bible! You could spend years reading a monthly
4wd magazine and just as long on the internet and still not get all the info this book has to offer and it’s all in one place.

The Bible answer’s the question’s I see newbie’s on 4wd websites asking.
How big of a tire can I run on my 4WD? , what size lift and what gears do I need to run those big tires? This book has lots of picture’s and helpful tips.
Plus it’s full of great armchair techniques that you can really use. This book should be required reading for anyone who wants to get into the sport of 4wheeling.I get 4wd question’s all the time now I can say “ You know what I would do,” You should go out and pick up this book.

Other names for this book could have been The Do’s and don’ts of owning
a 4wheel drive vehicle. LOL I loved this book and it’s not a read it once and forget it book you will find yourself going back to it for useful info you need to be the four-wheeler you want to be. Kudos to Jim Allen for writing and updating this great book and to Motorbooks workshop for publishing it.
Jim is right on the money!

I'm thinkin you didn't read the original question?

33" will fit,but if your going to wheel it on the weekends I would suggest 31".As far as tires themselves MT's are great for odd road, but since you said you drive 15k highway every year I would suggest AT's.As far as brands I like BFG,but that could be for a simple reason that I know someone who sells them and I get a good price.

Remove the 2 wheel stops (welded bolts) and install 2 small washers and reinstall the bolts.
