Had the Jeep out this weekend and she died on me 3 different times let would not crank right back--acted like no fire---let her sit for 10min and she would start up and drive fine?? Any ideas?

Re: Cj dying

Battery/alternator maybe or a loose cable somewhere? Check your battery cables first.

Re: Cj dying

Good point. Have you checked the plugs? Are they fouled in any way?

So it sounds to me like the starter is spinning just fine and normal, the jeep just doesn't start some times. Do you smell fuel when trying to start it and it's doing this?

You say it died on you, were you driving down the road normally, or rolling to a stop?

Re: Cj dying

The plugs and wires are brand new, It dies @ different times once while pulling a buddy out once on the road and once just in thewoods. Yeswhen it dies and I try to start it right back I do smell gas.

Re: Cj dying

Check the Fusible link to the starter solenoid and the resistor wire to the coil circuit. make sure the connections are clean and the resistor wire has no open insulations all the way to the driverside junction block.

Re: Cj dying

Could be the ignition box headed south. I had that trouble with mine before.

Re: Cj dying

My bet is on the Ford DuraSpark ignition module. The aftermarket ones are a crap shoot at best and can go bad anytime after installed or even be bad at birth. Junk Yard Genius has some good info on the jeep ignition systems.
