Transmission woes

I hope you can help
I run a Jeep T-176 transmission in a Hotrod. I'm just getting the car road worthy. I had the transmission rebuilt, but left the shift housing alone, as I thought it was OK. In any event, once in a while it won't shift into 3rd or 4th gear. If i go back to second gear, then it seems to shift ok. I just wonder if there is something wrong with the shifter housing somehow and if anyone here has any experience with these things, before I take the shifter housing apart? Any ideas?

Sounds like the roll pin for the shift fork is falling out or the fork itself is bent

Hi Carnuck and thanks for the reply. I think it is in the shift forks and I'll take it apart to see. I also have another shift assy that I can try
