    lug nut studs

So I put on 11/2" wheel spacers on the other day. Before installing them I did have a death wobble on rare ocassion due to a tie rod end on drivers side. After the spacer install it must have agrevated the tie rod end and I couldnt go over 35 with out the frontend shaking horribly. So, yesterday I took off the front spacers until I get the rod end fixed. This is where the problem was, I got all the lug nuts off except one. I tried to loosen the nut and the whole stud spun, and spun, and spun, after much trickery I was able to get the nut off and you can spin the stud by hand. I have never seen this happen before, do you think it just striped the stud, or the hub hole it gos through? I was in a hurry and it was getting dark fast so I didnt really have time to investigate. Thanks

Have you had any work done requiring the wheels be taken off by a shop? My guess would be that the stud stripped or if a shop did do some work they broke it and replaced it with one of the wrong size. Or the hub may have stripped if its rusted out.

I just hope its the stud striped out and not the hub. It hasnt been to the shop. My boss thinks the stud just striped, I hope he is right.

Most likely it's just the stud. It's softer than the cast steel that holds it.
