Jeep YJ leans to the side

Anyone know how to resolve this issue? My jeep leans to the side. The passenger's side is about 1/2" higher.

I measure all 4 corners and measured from the floor to the axle on the 4 sides and still 1/2" lean.

I've been driving it around town and it is more noticeable now then before. I installed a 2.5" rubicon express lift last month and didn't notice it..now i can totally tell.

This is a picture of before and after the lift was installed..there was no lean...I can't post a current picture because it's in the shop getting the the rear bumper, skid plate & tire carrier installed, but the lean is very noticeable (1/2")

My first assumption was to replace the bushings, and maybe add 1/2 in to compensate, but not sure if that's a good idea.

Can anyone help or suggest how to correct this?

When you say that there is a difference from the ground to the axle from one side to the next, are you sure that's the case, or are you talking about from the ground to the bumper?

If there really is a difference between the ground to the axle, then most likely your tire pressure is way off on one side.

If there is a difference between the ground and the bumper, I wouldn't add spacers, I'd try to identify exactly where the issue is. Measure from the ground to the axle, the ground to the bumper, and the ground to the rear of each front leaf spring and look for differences.

Are both of your front shackles at about the same angle, or is one at a steeper angle than the other?

You can try swapping the springs from side to side.

It's possible the front and rear springs were mixed up during installation, using 1 front and 1 rear on each end.

On level ground measure the distance ground to axel at each tire. Then body bottom to ground in front of the rear wheels and behind the front wheels. And frame to ground in the same locations. This will help determine if the issue is tires frame or body or springs...

Different size tires or pressures. Body mounts could be rotted or loose bolts. Tall list and short track bar. Swapped springs... Just be sure you are on level ground with tires no turned.

Not yet. Jeep was getting a leak fixed. Leaking from the axle seal. I'll measure it today

Thanks for the replies..yes there is a track bar..but how would i check it?

I did measure all four corner and it has 1/4" lean.

What i did notice is that i placed a leveler on the shackles and found that they the passenger side is not straight..so i think that is a problem. I'm going try to replace the shackles to see if that solves the problem. I"ll post pictures shortly.

One thing you can check before getting new shackles, (which I don't think will help) is to check how tight you have the shackle bolts tightened. Many times people tighten them up too much and doesn't allow the springs to move or allow one spring to move and the other to bind. You should be able to bounce the bumper up and down and see movement at the shackle, if they done move, they are probably too tight. I did this once on my current jeep on the rear spring, drove for days just fine, then the spring got stuck in a compressed position, I loosened the shackle bolt and it returned to its proper position.

How much did the lift cost you? Did you install it yourself? Be doing mine soon, just need to research prices.

Not much spline engagement on the slipyoke, you're going to spit out the driveshaft if both sides of the rear axle droop at the same time.

Here are some pics <img src="http://www.jeepz.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=20997"/>

How level is the ground your parked in and are the front tires parallel with the rear?

From the pic you could rule out body mounts. Or body rot at the mounts.

Running into an engine issue. After driving for awhile, i hear a humming/ whining
sound..it think it's coming from the Alternator. Attached is the video...has anyone had this issue or know what it is?

Sufficient current output. Do you have a 4or 6 cyl?
Go to rock auto.

For the 6 cyl there are 75 and 90 A alt available. There seems to be a 117A Bosch available. Do you have V-belts or grooved?

Just got a mean green alternator :) going to install it this weekend. Replacing the stock one. It puts out 120. Should hook up real easy without any mods.
