Back firing issue

So I had a backfiring issue after replacing my Carter carb to a Weber carb, I tried everything to a point where I even replaced my EGR valve. Then I undid my PCV valve and no more back firing. My question is I put a Small filter on the other side of the PCV valve and that seems to work, is my carb getting to much air now, it's running good, but I have not seen this before. Am I going to blow stuff up by doing this.

you can just run a filter on each side of the valve cover, if you wish. i think you have a slight vacuum leak somewhere though that is causing your backfire

Might check your fuel pressure also, pump might not be delivering enough pressure and causing a lean condition. I would also check exhaust manifold for leaks regarding back fire. When your exhaust has a leaks it mixes air and combines with unspent fuel and combusts. My .02 for the day.
