so the time has come for me to wire my stereo and the (steel horse?) overhead soundbar has four wires leading down from it into my dash. none of the wires are connected to a harness, just bare at the ends. there are two blue wires and two brown wires. now im trying to figure out which ones are for the left speaker, which ones are for the right speaker, and which ones are positive and negative. none of them are labeled. does anyone know which is which? or how i could test them to find out?

your best bet is to just try them out and see which one is left and wich one is right. As far as pos and neg there should be a stripe on one of each color if so those are the neg wires. hope that helps.- Chris[addsig]

I believe that the blue wires are different and the brown wires are different. Give them a close look. Solid blue or solid brown will be your negative and a blue or brown with a stripe will be your positive. As for sides, I think blue is passenger and brown is driver. Soooo, if I am correct your drivers side will be Brown (positive with stripe, solid negative) and the passenger side should be Blue (positive with stripe, solid negative). Hope it's right and hope it works! Good luck.

Every stereo I have wired has had the neg wires with stripes, But it wouldn't be the first time I have been wrong. Maybe one of our resident stereo experts can shed some light?[addsig]

--- Here's how to do it:
Which wire is neg and which is positive does not matter as long as both speakers are wired the same (EX. both solid wires go to pos. connections, or both go to neg. connections ---- both striped wires got to pos. connections, or both go to neg. connections ) .. to find out which one is left or right, take it in and hook it up to your home stereo.. A speaker is a speaker, it will work with your home equipment. [addsig]

This may tak a bit longer, however you will then be sure. Remove the speaker grill, take out the screws and look at how the wires connect to the speaker. The one with the smaller connection is the negative. Good luck. [addsig]
