Anyone know how to bypass the starter safty switch on a 97 TJ? Mine is going out ans just about left me standed in the Wally World parking lot. I have wamted to get rid of it for a while so that I could use my starter on the trail in the rough stuff but now I need to get rid of it just to get to work. Any help would be greatly appreicated :-? [addsig]

The switch that I/m refering to is the one that will not let it start unless the clutch is depressed, I know that htere is a way to disable this but I cant figure out how. Any help would be hugly appreciated :-? :-? [addsig]

i think you can connect the wires that run to the switch... always leaving the connection closed[addsig]

You can do it! When I was a mobil installer I installed remote starters on sticks. Not sure about TJ's only cause never had the chance to do a R/S on one, but most cars have two signal that complete the electrical curcit to allow the starter selinoid to start. It will require to relays, one that will send a pos signal and one for a neg signal to the respectable wires. use the ignition and the starter wire to activate the relays.
Try a web search on how to over ride this on that particular vehicle.
As of simply removing the system, I am unsure sorry but I have no knowledge about how to do this

check the manual..there is a fuse behind the glove box you can pull...it's that simple..if you don't have a manual, let me know..I'll let you know which one it is
