Hey folks,

I've got my 32 x 11.5 BFG A/T's running on my TJ. Now its time to get that much needed spare tire. I am really not looking to spend hundreds on a new carrier. We all know there are better things to spend money on (LOL). Is there anything out there that is cheap and will be able to handle my 32's, yet not damage my hinges? Does anyone have any opinions on the spare tire relocation brackets that Quadratec sells? I know there are other companies out there that also have similar brackets. What to go for?

Thanks!

-Rob

You can simply reuse the stock carrier. Knock out the studs, and redrill holes for them higher up, mounting one on top and two on bottom. Make it so the tire barely runs the bumper when closing the tailgate, then the bumper will help support the weight when the tailgate is closed. Trim the rubber bumpers between the tailgate and spare as needed.

The relocation bracket is nice, but it also moves your tire away from the body, which adds leverage and is harder on the hinges.
