i realize that most of you guys dont agree with shackle lifts. but is there an amount of shackle lift thats ok?
heres the situation, i have a 4" suspension lift,(probably only 3" now, its a few years old) and the bolt holes in my shackles are worn, so i need new shackles anyway. now my question is, would a 1/2 inch to maybe at the most an inch shackle lift make my jeep unstable in any way, or wear on anything, or be hard on anything? thanks in advance for your advice.

The amount of lift you are talking about isn't going to be a problem if you use good quality shackles that don't flex. I like moderate shackle lifts, but I also like body lifts, so many here might disagree with me on that. I have made alot of shackle lifts for jeeps, and I like to use up to an inch of shackle lift if it is going along with a 4" suspension lift. They can screw up the steering and put alot of stress on the frame if you go too big and don't take precautions to keep those things from happening, but I don't think you will have any problems.

If you go with a shackle that is 1" taller than stock which is 1/2" lift (amount of actual lift is about 1/2 the difference between the 4" stock shackles and the new ones), you should be ok, and should not notice any changes in your steering. I would recomend getting them with greaseable bolts.
This guy makes a decent product, he made mine:

Slightly longer than stock shackles are fine, but stay under 2" longer than stock.
