I was out driving yesterday when the rpm would suddenly jump down then return to normal. This happend a couple times on my way home killed the engine twice. I towed my jeep home and starting looking around. I cant find any loose wires or grounds and the starter was tested and good. However I have no power to any of the ignition system. No power to the igniton coil or when I turn the key to start it up. Any ideas?

Check your conections to the coil. I had a wire that was almost completely broken and did not give the coil enough power. I temperarily put som female crimp connectors on until I can pick up a new part at the stealership.

Checked that already. Just replaced the starter relay as well. Next I am moving on to the ignition module. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

The starter has nothing to do with it while running. I think you have alternator issues.
What did the voltage say? When the alternator dies, the engine will continue to run on battery juice until the voltage drains too low to spark the engine. Then you get the symptoms you mentioned. See if it will start again and check the voltage. If it is below 14 or 12 then more than likely it's your problem.

It wont even crank unless I cross the termials on the starter. I have plenty of juice to run everything else on the jeep. But I will take the alternater off tonight and check it.

The volt meter was rite at 14. I didnt notice any jumping on it thow.

Is there a wire from the starter to the coil?
What kind of Jeep are we talking here?

Its a 88yj IL6 with a weber.

The alternator is fine. Tested it yesterday. Also tested the starter.

There is no direct wire from the starter to the coil. The starter runs to a relay and ridirects from there. I replace the relay already. Coming down to the module, ignition switch or I have no idea. Going to eliminate them one by one.

All I can say is get a wiring diagram and start checking them one by one with a test light or voltmeter prefferably.
