Hey! Nope. The Master Cylinder can come out without needing to rip apart the tranny in any way, shape, or form. There are two bolts that hook the MC onto the firewall. There's also the hose that fits in the top part of the MC. If you pop the pin that holds the hose (I used an allen wrench and a hammer) the hose will come off. Then all that's needed is the unbolt the MC from the firewall. Make sure you drain the resevoir (sp?) before starting, or it's gonna get really messy. I just changed mine on my '93 about two months ago. It'll take about an hour max.
