Moab - October 20-23?

Am planning on going to Moab (again) for October 20-23.

Anyone going to be there and want to run some trails?

It was beautiful but it had changed. The week long rain they had about 2 weeks ago washed trails out all over.

We did Poison Spider Mesa Saturday. There were sump pot holes (big ones) that had water in them 1/2 way up the full-size trees growing in them. I gauged them to be 8 - 10 feet deep.

Sandy areas in washes had huge cracks in them. The entry to the Klondike Bluffs trail had 2 massive sized ones. Had to maneuver them by riding the sides of the cracks. We went over the hill into Arches NP and found that the Sand Hill 4WD road was temporarily closed.

Interesting what 1/2 of their annual rainfall received in one week does to an area.

By the way...

We had arranged with some other people to meet on Saturday and ride Poison Spider Mesa. We got into Moab late and was unable to hook up.

Since we have learned that they did Hell's Revenge trail later that day and had some problems with water, sumps and flops.

One of the guys drove into a sump but found it was too deep. Yes, his engine seized with the water. The entry was deep.

One of the other guys flopped on tip-over challenge.

For them it was not a good weekend...
