Around the net i've seen a few commanche's with a chopped bed thats around quite a bit shorter than normal short bed mj. Just wondering for a 4x2 mj would it just be a case of pulling out the sawzall cand ripping through the bed?

Example: http://home.att.net/~mn-wheels/trailgeeks/

I checked out that link, those people simply removed their beds and built something dirctly attached to the frame. You can "chop the Bed" but in automotive slang that would mean reducing it's height. I think you mean shortening it???

You can but you would also have to cut the frame and adjust the wheel base accordingly. unless you are trying to achieve nothing more than a gap to put a tool bok or something.

You can take your sawzall to it, but you'll have to do some fancy bodywork to get taillights and a tailgate again, or fab a custom bed like on your link. If you're chopping the rear for the overhang, it's really only practical to shorten it up to the shackles.

I've got an '88 MJ 4.0L 4x4 I'm currently working on, sweet vehicles.

6 or 7" Tj flares

What about cutting a section out of the floor of the bed and making the sides come closer together like on the rear of a rockkrawler? Iknow, it would be difficult but would be very unique. The back (looking down on it) would come together like a Vee...

Sorry, just my .02.......
