I have a '79 Cherokee for sale. One interested party was asking what other engine would fit this vehicle. I believe it has the TH400 trans. Will a General Motors V8 fit without much hassle? some of the cherokee trannys had an adapter plate which would make the engine swap to chevy a no brainer (except for the motor mounts). But the later cherokees th400 was in an AMC specific case, basicly a th400 with and AMC bellhousing. seems like you need to see if there is an adapter on yours.[addsig]
