building a lift

what do you guys think about building my own lift for a tj wrangler its a stick and it completly stock but i dont feel like buying a lift so if i were to make one should i build it having the conrol arms attached to the stock mounts on the frame or should i attach them to the t-case skid plate like the long arm lifts i was told that if the control arms were attached to the t-case skid plate that it is really weak and it easy to break[addsig]
