Ok.....my oil pressure gauge used to read one line above 40 running down the road, and one line short of 40 at idle. Over the past few weeks, the "range" of the gauge has been dropping, never getting up to 40 even running down the road. My question is, can an oil pump go out slowly, or do I more than likely have a gauge problem? Also, is it possible the the screen is clogged? It gets regular oil changes, so shouldn't be that slugged up. As far a running, it runs and sounds fine. Any thoughts? Thanks

I'm cleaning up a recently purchased '93 YJ & I've run into a question with the fuel guage. I had the gauge "cluster" pulled out while cleaning the dash & I physically moved the fuel guage needle from empty to full. Now the guage needle doesn't change position as it should when power is put to the guage cluster. The needle basicly holds any position I move it to within the normal range of the guage. The needle moves freely but with a slight resistance that hopefully suggests the guage mechanism isn't broken. I havn't had time to check the fuel sending unit or the rest of the guage circuit. Think its just a nasty coincidence or did I ruin my guage? Is JC Whitney a good source for a guage if I need one? I priced OEM gauges & judging from the price they are very proud of them. Thanks for any comments you can spare. I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago and have really enjoyed reading the comments and viewing the videos. I will appreciate any suggestios or comments. Thanks. MGD

not new to jeeps or forums, just this particular one. i like how you guys have a mobile web page for us people who like to get on while we are bored standing in line or waiting for food. that is how i found the site, actually.

anyways, my name i jason and i have a problem....wait a second, wrong group. ;)

i have an 87 cherokee and an 02 liberty. the liberty is the wife's and it currently is in need of another motor. not impressed by the new v6 in the jeeps so i bought the cherokee for me so the wife can do whatever with the liberty when i get a motor put in it for her.

anyways, stats:
2002 liberty
3.7l v6
auto tranny
sport model
4x4
heavy duty front brushguard
2.5" lift
v-max tires, 255/75/16
motor kicked the bucket at 111k miles

87 cherokee
4.0 i6
auto tranny
base model
4x4
totally stock

i am so happy to have found this cherokee. got it from an old rancher for 2k bucks and its only got 137k miles on it. everything works, including the ac. unfortunately it came with brand new tires that are not AT or anything like that so it will be a bit till i get new tires. i will get a 3" lift here real quickly though and probably paint it olive drab green with that roll on paint. either that or desert sand with the roll on paint

94YJ 2.5L with automatic transmission. Pulled the air cleaner box and Hose to the throttle body, the Hose was caked with oil and crud. Cleaned it out, then pulled the tube from the PCV valve to the hose it was pretty filthy, so I cleaned it also along with the throttle body. Purchased new PCV valve Rubber Grommet and new air filter, but was told that valves and rings are bad because there is oil in these places. Now the question is fact or fiction? Any thoughts?

I am having an issue wih my starter. I removed it and had it checked out at both AutoZone & O'Reilley's (it tested out GOOD). However, I am told that they may not have put a LOAD on it or tested the solenoid.

When I reinstalled it, the Jeep started like a charm; after a few starts it would click, click, click, turnover; and now it makes no sound at all and does not start.

The only way I can get it to start is to put the ignition in the "on" position, crawl under the Jeep, and touch a screw driver to the 2 bolts (little and big) on the starter. When I do this, it starts right up immediately.

My thought is that one of the wires (the big one from the + side of the battery and the little one coming down from a harness/wire) is not giving the starter any juice/power.

OR, my 2nd thought is maybe the starter is actually bad.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

I'm doing some cold weather testing for a company called MCE (Modern Classic Enterprises) on a set of thier new plastic flat fenders. I want to put them on my DD TJ since it sees the most salt, cold, and trail time in the winter. However, I don't want to cut up my current fenders since they're still in relatively good shap.

What I'm looking for is a set of front fenders that aren't perfect but are still relatively straight(mounting hole, and inner fender wise). Any place in the midwest that you guys know of that might have something. I'm sick of the junkyards around here since everyone wants 250 for a rusted to hell, crumpled to hell fender that looks more like a crushed pop can then a fender.

I'm located in Mn, and thanks in advace.

How to install Rock Sliders on a Jeep Wrangler

If you spend any time on the rocks when offroading, you’ll end up with some body damage between your wheels and under the doors – rocks seem to popup...

If you spend any time on the rocks when offroading, you’ll end up with some body damage between your wheels and under the doors – rocks seem to popup and crunch the sheet metal in these places. A common fix for this (both before or after the damage) is to install some rock sliders. Rock sliders are typically 3/16 inch metal that simply overlaps about 6 inches up the side, and 6 inches under the vehicle.

Rock sliders come in a variety of shapes and sizes, some with a tublar step, and some without. After some research I chose some from sliders from Trail Gear that had a tublar step… well, perhaps step isn’t the right word, it’s really too small to be used as a step.

Overall I’m very happy with this upgrade. Not only do these rock sliders look great and provide protection when offroad, but they are strong enough to be used as a Hi-Lift jack point, meaning that I can position my jack under the tube and jack from there. I’d say these are a great investment for anyone who wants to go offroad.
