Re: stuck in park

Can you put the transfer case in any other gear? Maybe get it into neutral or 4high?

Re: stuck in park

Are you stuck on a hill/slope? Automatics will seem stuck in park if there's lots of pressure on the "park pawl". Can you rock it a bit and see it frees up??

Re: stuck in park

Have you checked the linkage at the transmission?

Re: stuck in park

yes the linkage has been checked the newer models have an actuator( i guess thats what it is called) that will lock up the linkage if it doesn't git the correct electronic signal, some vehicles have a switch that can be used to release it but if my jeep has one then i cannot find it

If it does, the shift lock would be right next to the shifter. also, the vehicle can not be running to over ride.

Re: stuck in park

Obviously, You have to hold the brake while shifting from Park. I don't know what signals the transmission to tell it you are holding the brake, but you may look there. Could be part of the brake light switch.
