Just having some fun. I prefer the old CJ's with V8's, but that is one sweet Jeep, Joopin!

Re: I made this pic my self
Simply because I have nothing else to add to this thread, but I find it hillarious that people say a Yj is less of a jeep than a Cj is. IMHO, YJ is a far better vehicle, better frames, better body's, better riding suspension, way better motors considering the I6 in the 92-95 yj made just as much torque and more horse power than any 304 put into a CJ (exception is the 304 in J trucks and wagoneers, they got a little more power for the weight increase) The only agrument I can think of for a cj is better Tcases and axles.
I like the pic, good job!

Re: I made this pic my self
I like the CJ's because they have a more spartan interior. Mine is all metal. The steering wheel is the old kind, the dash metal, etc. I looked at the 2008 Jeeps and just could not get past the "carlike" interior. Just didn't feel like a Jeep. Heck, I would be afraid to get one of those dirty. I clean my jeep interior with a hose.
Also, CJ's are easier to work on. No computers and fancy wiring. I wired most of mine myself with no real problems and I'm no mechanic. My Jeep has a 304, and boy does it pull better than the 2008 JK I test drove a few months ago!
That said, I freely admit that late model jeeps are more capable, both on and off road.

I also test drove the 2007 Rubi, and was shocked by some things, like how hard it was to get into the rear seats (my YJ is much easier to get into, for crying out loud!), and some comfort creatures that have no place offroad (can you say ELECTRIC WINDOWS??? Who would dare to cross a deep river with those on the Jeep!!??). And, like you, I was not overly impressed by the engine... And I drive the 4-banger!

Re: I made this pic my self
Don't get me wrong, My YJ is getting a CJ hood grille and dash simply because I have the complete nose in mint shape and I have a complete working cj dash and windshield, my windshield is toast and while my dash is fine, I too like the less is more look. I just laugh when people say a YJ is not a real Jeep, I guess they are right, it's a better jeep.
I have wheeled in a couple JK's, one rubi 4 door and one x 2 door, both are nice and comfy, I would welcome the creature comforts of power windows, AC, working power steering. I personally avoid water crossings and mud as much as I can so the electrical benefits would not bother me.
Here is the most powerful 304 AMC put into the CJ's, they got as low as 125hp 210 ftlb's by the 80's
AMC 304 V8
Bore x Stroke 3.75" x 3.44"
Displacement 304(4.98L)
Compression Ratio 8.4:1
Horsepower (net) 150@4200
Torque (net) 245@2500
Main Bearings 5
Valve Configuration OHV
Fuel 2bbl
And the 242 I6
4.0L I6
Bore x Stroke 3.88" x 3.41"
Displacement 242 (4.0L)
Compression Ratio 8.8:1
Horsepower (net) 180@4750
Torque (net) 220@4000
Main Bearings 7
Valve Configuration OHV
Fuel MPI

Re: I made this pic my self
Well I have the 07 JK and I love it. True, I really don't want to get it dirty yet ...but as soon as it is paid for or the warranty runs out I think I will have an easier time with that!
After checking out prices on the used ones around B'ham I decided on a new model because I really wanted AC and other creature comforts. Since this was my "mid-life crisis" vehicle I decided what the heck...get what I want, so I did!

Dont get me wrong; I dont dislike the JK, but I find it less rugged than the TJ or YJ or CJ. It is a better daily driver, though, as it has more creature comforts (as you well say), and it IS capable offroad if built correctly (same as any other wrangler). I just think with more technologies, there are more things to go wrong in the trails...
For example, in my case with the YJ, I've got to worry about getting my computer soaked and being stranded, but CJ's with carburated engines dont have to worry about that. In your case, you got more stuff to worry about, but those same things also make daily driving less of a chore.
