shim sham shimmy
Hello Jeep geniuses, I’m in need of guidance:
I recently purchased a 2001 Cherokee sport, 115k… A handful of problems exist that may possibly relate:
Constant shimmy when driving around 55mph… (tires are properly inflated)
Front passenger tire is worn significantly more than FD…
Constant faint metallic hissing sound, noticed most at around 20mph from the front end (AC & stereo off)…
When I lift the front end (with my bare hands, no less
and spin the tire, there’s a friction in the brakes – even in neutral. This didn’t seem normal, so I went back and compared my previous Cherokee only to find the same friction. Could the discs be the wrong size (on both vehicles) or is this normal?
If it means anything, the brakes on the newer jeep are considerably tighter. Could the brake symptoms relate to the shimmy?... or is that likely to be tie rod, bad bearings, alignment…?
THANKS!!!

Re: shim sham shimmy
Are your tires properly balanced? If it has been a while, you may need to get them rebalanced.
Life is a trip, so give me another hit!
