New seats

Hi all,

New here, I have a 95 YJ with a 4.5 Rubicon lift 1" body lift on 35's. Not a hard core rig but gets me where I want to go.

Now it's time to replace the stock seats. My question is simple. How bad are Smittybilt seat?

Thanks all

Re: New seats

I have not heard very much on the smittybilt seats. Which are you looking at buying?

If you don't want anything too fancy, try looking for a local Jeep Junkyard and see if they have any Rocky Mountain Edition Seats. They sorta look like the JK seats with high head rest and sit lower then stock. We found a almost new set at our local yard for cheap because the guy didn't know what he had. You prolly shouldn't have too much trouble fitting a TJ seat bracket in a YJ. I'd double check tho..

Re: New seats

unless you want to drop big bucks into seats, fox body mustang seats are a almost direct bolt in swap. for a while I had seats from a peugot XR (I think), black leather, heated way better than the mustang for bolster, and super comfy, and got the pair out of a junk yard rip free for $30. I ended up selling them for $100 for hte pair, my seats are now on the roll cage and not on the floor so I have a set of $25 jegs plastic seats. not at all comfy, but effective.

Re: New seats

I have TJ seats in my 91 YJ and the only problem I found was the TJ seats were wider than the YJ seats and won't slide back past the rollbar if you need leg room. Also I have mine back as far as it will go and it rubs on the roll bar.Makes an annoying sqeaking sound.Hope this helps........

Re: New seats

With a mod plate, I installed Corbin A4's in "Black Betty" save for being able to find neoprene covers for 'em, I couldn't be happier.

(When a local shop owner learned of my Renegade's name he asked what I called my black panel van, I responed "The Oven". For lack of AC and only two roll down windows)
