Johnny's 94 yj "One Big Poop"

here is the tape marking what I am cutting off. so from the top edge of the tape down will be removed. here is a quick shot of scoring the rockers... then the camera battery died, I got the drivers rocker about 90% cut off. I also spent some time measuring and cutting my tube for the boat sides. should get it tacked in this weekend if the weather cooperated.

Couple more photo's.

I now own a Jee

got pretty much the entire rocker off, also cut out all the rust that went higher on the body than the boat sides will. I still have a lot more trimming to do once I start laying some tube work down. I am going to try to keep as much floor as possible by scoring it and bending it up to clear the boat side tube.

so I made a patch templet out of some paper board I had.

I transfered it to some metal, this is some old 16 gauge motor covers that a previous employer was throwing away, I snagged three of them, about time I got around to using them for something... I will probably make what ever floor patches I need out of this as well.

cut out the metal patch, slowly grinding the tub and the patch to get a nice tight fit. One of the issues, and it is kinda hard to see in the photo is that the tub had taken some body damage around this area years back, so I spent some time teying to straighten it out as best I can.. frankly, this is a trail rig, so the repair will be functional more than pretty.

I'll have more soon

updated, the patch is all welded.

also, since I had the fenders off, and before the new ones go on, which will be solid welded, time to swap out the stock manifold for a header that I bought 5 years ago..

the rest exaust will be hand made since I want to run it down the drivers side. when the one tons go in, the front is a chevy axle, and the doubler is a pass drop and since I will not know exactly where it will be going, might as well do it now.

Fabbed up the new radiator catch can mount. pretty slick if you ask me. I will also be adding roll control for the rear axle for front digs, so I will also mount it on this bracket. bracket is just some 3/16 flat stock that I bent up.

I like that battery box - looks pretty slick.

Some updates

I sold the bumper, I got a stock one for free, so I am going to cut it to be the same wideth as the frontframe portion simply just to protect the front frame horns. I also cut, welded and trimmed the hood, ended up taking a little over 3" out of the hood. Got the hood pins on and the hood louvers that I've been meaning to get cut in for a while now. I also drilled a hole and bolted the top of the grille supports on, I am going to weld the nut to the support and then the tube for the fender will cover it so you'll never see it. I also snapped a photo of the bolt on the inside of the grille, couldn't use a regular bolt because I couldn't get a socket on a hex head. I also got the sides cut to clearence the doors and started mocking up the tube. The tube is 1.5" .25 wall DOM so it will take one heck of a beating.

I like the clearence that I got out of cutting the hood, with a 3" lift spring, I could easily fit a 40-42" tire and still have a couple inches of uptravel.

The rocker tubes and the angle need to be cut and trimmed to size, this is just a mock up to give you an idea on the clearence gained by cutting off the rocker.

Frame plates for the boat sides to mount too, new exhaust, taking the cat off, running the exhaust down the drivers side since the D60 is a pass drop. only running a dynomax circle track muffler. also going to make the exhaust in pieces so when I smash it up, I will only have to fix a section. also going to look for a stainless flex pipe to limit the vibration between the chassis and the motor to try to save the header from splitting/ cracking. also bought a Banks cross over pipe about 4 years ago, I plan on cutting it up to use teh O2 bung and some of the mandrel bends.

Also picked up a adjustable fan control for the taurus fan. if you are looking for a hayden control, have autozone cross reference part number 226203, it will have this one opo up, same part, different part number.

Got the tubes for the fenders fitted, also started to cut the tube for the actual boat sides, but I couldn't find my 1.5" bi metal hole saw, so I had to go buy one for the notcher. then the battery in the camera crapped out, so I'll get some shots of it later.

Wow this needs some updating. I have the front fenders 99% finish welded. I was waiting for some tube clamps from Ruff Stuff to make the fenders removable from the boat sides. the boat sides are 100% finish welded, just need to finish some small gussets up and then I'll start to measure for the high density poly skid's for each side.

This is from the first page, it's the best I have. Next time I have a camera in the garage I'll snap some more. Cage is probably coming out next year or two, plan is to back half the jeep, probably not going to reuse this cage.

Huh?!?!?!, you went through all the trouble building it and your just gonna rip it out?. You have too much time on your hands Johnny:lol:.

Is that 2 inch dom I'm going 1.75 dom hope mine comes out that nice

well, I got some time to make some brackets today, I also took some photo's of the sides and fenders

also here are some pics of the stock bumper I got from my friends at crown auto.. prettied it up a little. the OR fab bumper I had was a little long in the tooth, so I sold it last month.. I have found if you want to sell your old parts quick and for a good price on Craigslist, list the part with the words "hardkore rock crawler" spelling core wrong.. kids whose parents have money to give them, eat that crap right up.
