Reverse light switch on transmission

JEEPZ GUYS,
Need your help.
1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4X4

Reverse lights were not working, found the problem to be the switch on my automatic transmission case. It died.
Replaced the switch and now they work but only if I HOLD the shift lever between Park and Reverse. Now I am sure
that there is a way (somehow) to adjust something so the shift lever sits over the little ball on the switch, but I don't
know how. What am I looking for to do this adjustment.
Any help would be great. thanks.

There are three links above. Do they not work?

The video describes a slight adjustment when installing.
One of the other links describe the instal and tightening of the bolt prior to bending the tabs to lock it in place.

What I was also looking for is the cable adjustment should the gear indicator not line up with the gear marker.
