When i install a new oil pump i usually pour about an ounce of STP oil treatment in the oil hole while turning the pump. then install the pump to the block. then i remove the oil pressure sending unit and insert a tube on the engine block oil passage with an oil hand pump and pump oil until you see it come out off the cam shaft bearing oil holes.

If you pull the dist. and get the right size nutdriverto fit the oil pump shaft, you then put the nutdriver in a drillbit extention and hook it to your drill and run it till you see oil. good luck
