Amc 258 To Amc 360

From What I Understand amc Engines Are Externally balanced and A 258 Flywheel Is Balance different From A 360 Is This Correct? The Local Jeep guys At My 4x Local Club Say The Flywheel From A 258 will bolt up to a 360 and work Fine, "And They Have Done It Before" So Should I Get A 360 FlyWheel Or Use my 258 And Hope It Doesn't kill My 360? The 258 is an 80 and the 360 is an 84 Both Came From J10s,

Re: Amc 258 To Amc 360

I would use the flywheel off the 360 instead of swapping over the 258 flywheel. It's not worth finding out that the mass on the 258 is incorrect for a 360 V8.

Re: Amc 258 To Amc 360

It costs about $100 to get the AMC 6 flywheel balanced for the v8 (HERE IN wa) The 6 cyl is internally balanced and V8 is externally balanced. Those wingnuts who claim to do the swap w/o destroying their motors had to put up with some bad vibes! Even 304/360 aren't quite the same
