    Modern Amenities Oldschool Style?

It is nice to customize your cj7/5 to a more creature comfort vehicle and I don't know if it's your only vehicle. But once you start down that road it pretty much just keeps on going. May I suggest a new Rubi to on or offroad with everything there from the get go. Anyway you look at it you will...

    RUBI REPORT

hey joejeepny how is your Rubi offroad? I heard stories that the Dana 44's aren't really Dana 44's. Please forgive my ignorance but what's the story on that. Aloha.

    4.2 sputtering

I just put a 400cfm Webber on my 86 258 and talk about run rich and sputter. Fortunately I have a friend who is a gifted mechanic. Anyway turns out the float was set too high from the factory. Pulled the cover off, tweaked it back just a hair and it runs like a champ.

    Wrangler reliabilty

Ditto to the Tug! Just one tidbit from a follow jeeper. If your gonna run around town once in a while and go skiing then maybe an inexpensive CJ7 may do. Later 1986 came with choice of auto 999 or standard and a Dana 44 rear, easy to work on. If it's amenities you crave then buy the newest TJ...

    83 cj7 engine swap question

Wow looks like psylocke opened a can a worms with that question. Sounds like Junkpile and Redrooster need to go wheeling together and have fun. Also sounds like Junkpile knows his stuff and can probably build a badass 304 that would kick a Bullitt in the butt. Quite frankly I don't see how you...

    83 cj7 engine swap question

I would suggest why are you looking to dump your 258, certainly not for the torque. I nice rebuild with 4.0 heads would be a good start. And Clifford has many fine hiperf goodies, i.e. cam, manifold or even fuel injection. I think V8's are overated.

Is the Weber 32/36 DGEV the best.

I opted for the 400cfm weber on my 86 258. It is swweeeet. But to get the full effect you gotta do the exhaust!!

    my heep

I've had a 5 and now a 7. I do enjoy the increased room, better ride and hardtop. But it rains a lot in my town. Too bad you didn't live here, CJ5's are hard to come by. If yours has a decent frame and body you would probably get good money.

Just not a CJ kind of guy!

If you really want a YJ you may find someone willing to trade. You're gonna miss big round headlights.

    what to do??

If you want V8 power I would go with a 401(if you can find one in good shape). Chevy and Ford offer many engine aftermarket but you gotta change drivetrain or buy adapter and new mounts. I don't know what engine you got, but their are a lot of goodies now for 4.0, even a blower. Sounds like you...

Aluminum valve cover install, question - heli-coil use?

Be very careful and use a flush tap. I just intalled my aluminum valve cover on my 86 CJ7. I attempted to drill a little deeper to get more thread. Not a good idea. There must be less then 1/16 of metal, cuz I went right into the water jacket. Ended up pulling head to machine shop to drill and...

Just curious if anyone has tired 33's on stock CJ height?? I was thinkin' of tryin' with just changing out to TJ flares. Waadddaayah TINK?

    Exhaust Me

Again I want to thanks everybody for their imput about my output. My Borla system bolts up with the tailpipe going thru the back leaf and out behind the rear tire. I know now once I can get the top sealed (will probably change it to fac jeep type since ACME parts hard to come by) the fumes will...
