Re: How is that right? The 2.5 has the ax-5 which is not suited for the 4.0 engine. I needed to install the ax-15 to work with this motor.

I have done the 2.5 to the 4.0 in my 95 jeep. It took me one (1) weekend and a day to do the swap and if I new then what I new know we could have had it done in two days. All that you need are the right brackets and wiring harnesses and it's not that difficult.

RE: This is FUN!!! Try IT! First if you have a 95 you have a YJ with a 2.5L and the transmission is a AX5 not a AX15. Most junk yards have them other than trying to find one on ebay.

The first thing you need to check is if there are two vacuum lines going to the 4x4 housing. This housing is located on the front axil on the passenger side back side. It has a diapham that is bolted to the axil. Check to make sure that they are attached. I do not remenber where they go...

my brother had the same problem with his 85 cj and it was the pin. It worked loose in the transmission and jammed the gears. It was a simple fix once he was shown how to do it. I can't help you on the clutch but you'll have to drop the transfer and transmission to do it. Good luck
