Luckily for everyone involved, it was a Sunday so there were no sales people on the lot... just us and some unlocked jeeps (and a few other shoppers)!

Had this happen to a friend at the dealership when looking for jeeps, except it ripped the pants, not just the belt loop.

I ended up making a few trips to the dealer for this and by the time of the last trip, the freedom panel latch could barely reach the metal loop - it was basically pushing up against it instead of latching. Dealer ended up ordering me a new panel which has solved the problem.

Keep it! You'll learn a lot - between making jeep friends, online forums, and youtube. In reality, there will probably be something you have to take it in for, but if you find a trustworthy mechanic it might not be so terrible. Welcome to jeepz :)!

Sweet jeep!

For now just enjoying it stock because it's a lot different than driving a honda sedan. Also no mods planned just yet since I want to recover a bit financially (thought I was going to buy in Oct/Nov), though I have been looking at soft tops and secured storage solutions hence the other thread.

Terry - I ended up with a hardtop because that was pretty much the only ones on the lot. I figured the same about once the hard top is on - it's on, but I thought it would be easier to switch to an after market soft top than the other way around. Though I must admit I have already started...

Thanks Terry! I think I'm going to get something similar to the enclosures you posted (if not one of those). For various reasons, I will most likely will end up getting a hard top now and buying a soft top later :(. I was also thinking about the rain - I park in a garage at home and work so...

Thanks for the responses :). I will check out Tuffy. Ideally, I wouldn't want to leave things of value, but when running errands it's almost inevitable that I end up stopping at multiple places.
