Installing a locker in my TJ's front axle - what spare parts should I carry?

That's the story. I don't know that I have ever checked out the two wheel drive Cherokee stub shaft but I would imagine it would be fine, everything else on the 2wd XJ and MJ crosses over without a problem. I just carry one of my old stub shafts with the broken ears.

Installing a locker in my TJ's front axle - what spare parts should I carry?

I have had an Aussie in the front of my TJ for a few years now and haven't had too much trouble. When I put a lunchbox locker in my old XJ years ago though I broke several sets. And yes, when the u-joint breaks it usually takes out everything in it's path, mostly the ears of the inner and outer...

So what do you do for a living?

I have been a (no offense Terry) real phone man for the last 12 years. Actually I have been a installer, splicer, and cable repairman for a very large telecommunications company. I love my job, I love what I do, but honestly I feel like a dinosaur that is close to extinction. Telephone cable...

What did you do to your Jeep today?

Put the Swampers on, changed the oil, fixed a small transmission fluid leak, greased everything, and got it ready for customer appreciation day with 4 Wheel Parts and the Badlands.

    Diff. Locker

I don't completely agree with this. A lunchbox locker is designed so that when torque is applied to the center pin of the carrier it pushes the center halves of the locker out, engaging them in the outer halves which are attached to the axle shafts. So in a situation where you are decelerating...

Front left axle removal 97 tj??

I am not sure if you have removed your axle shaft yet but this trick is an awesome way to get that stuck unit bearing out. Unit Bearing - 1

    Really really need some help!!!

I agree with superj, I would clean the idle air control solenoid. That's what it sound like to me, if the solenoid is sticking then your starving the engine for air, when you pull the booster hose off it allows the engine to get air, since it comes directly off of the intake. Clean the orifice...

    How Lifted is...CJ-7

The way I have done it is to flex the jeep out as far as you can and get a measurement of the short and long and buy them according to those measurements.

My Tj just shuts down, loss of electrical power

I had the same problem with my 97, turned out to be a loose connector just above the driver's feet, behind the knee panel.
