I don't have a jeep per say.

I'm currently looking for a 97-00' Cherokee sport. What are these years weakest links? I'm a mechanic so I'm fairly knowledgable when it comes to tearing cars apart. So, before I make my purchase can some of you point out their weak points? Thanks

Re: I don't have a jeep per say.

uni body chassis no real frame
1) Check rails real good around steering box for stress cracks ,
2) rails behind rear doors for stess cracks
3)there known to have electrical issues in colum, dash, and some under hood but those are mostly loose grounds
4) known to overheat
but most part love mine other than diffs and all the little bugs

Re: I don't have a jeep per say.

Thanks :)
I've heard about 1 ton axle conversions. At what point is this required? I'd probably go with a 4" lift and 32" tires in the future. Def. Will not be a rock crawler, however I'd probablyhit some minor dirt trails.
