    popping noise

I should note that the vehicle runs perfectly fine, no knocking on the U-Joints. or anything. I'm also not doing a lot of shifting of the t-case and overall don't drive it very often even though it's my DD (we have really nice public transit out here) so it's pretty much a toy at the moment...

    Shaking at high speeds

Very fixable. But I know the feeling, it literally seems like the front-end is gonna come right off the vehicle, quite scary if you're not expecting it :-) I spent about a good 3 weeks reading up on it and replacing a few things here and there but it really came down to getting new tires...

    Shaking at high speeds

Sounds like signs of "Death wobble". Do a thread search on the forum and you'll find quite a lot of info since it's a pretty common issue with the XJ. I just went through it all and it turned out to be bad tires for me but then again it's usually different for everyone.

    popping noise

Hey all, A while back I asked this question is a longer thread but thought I'd start a new one specific to this (rather than the list of issues I had before). Here's the issue. After the engine is warm and I come to a sudden stop (normal braking) I hear a popping/cracking/bubbling noise...

    sway bar

Interesting idea but I guess I have a few questions then: 1.) Are your front brake lines extended? Seems like they'd have to be in order to get any real flex out of it. Mine are 100% stock in the front 2.) I would tend to think that driving without a sway bar on the highway 60-70 would...

    sway bar

Could someone run me through the install process of the Rubicon Express Sway bar relocation brackets. From their site and the pictures posted it just appears as a flat piece of metal. Do you have to drill holes? I don't see how it relocates anything? If you currently have such a bracket some...

    Transmission thump at 50-60

So after looking around some relate the issue to a bad wire within the speed sensor. Where would I be able to find the speed sensor? Any information on installation of the sensor would be great. Thanks in advance,

    sway bar

So I finally got around to getting a pic! From reading many posts I can see two options but am unsure as to which route to go: 1.) Get a different bracket that doesn't bulge outward which seems to compromise strength (I've seen some pics with rigs which have flat brackets). 2.) relocate the...

lift kit and drive shaft alignment

So, the diagram makes perfect sense but do you really have to consider re-alignment for small lifts (3.5 and under). It seems to me that there is plenty enough tolerance on the joints to allow for the diff to be rotated a bit. Maybe I'm missing something here? What would the harm be in having...

    sway bar

ah, did i type tie-rod (not sure why that was on my mind). It's the driver side drag link bracket that has the budge in it. When I get off work I'll post a pic.

    Transmission thump at 50-60

So, ever since I pulled a u-haul across the country in Drive (the strange 3-4 combo) I've had this odd feeling with the transmission when it's trying to decide whether or not to shift from 3-to-Drive (or visa-versa i should say). Basically, when going up hill around 55 it decides to downshift...

    sway bar

So I recently got a RE3.5 lift and the upper sway bar end link rubs the drag-link outer bracket (it has the v-shaped bend) when the suspension is fully compressed. It's not a huge deal since the bracket is angled and the end bolt on the upper link is rounded (they slide pretty well) but it's a...

Thanks for the input everyone. RedTop it is!

    YellowTop or RedTop ....

Thanks for the input. So maybe i'm confused on the stats for each of these classes. All the battery's seem to have about the same c/20 capacity rating so i would think they would all have the same discharge behavior but from reading the literature and ignoring the numbers the yellowTop claims...

    YellowTop or RedTop ....

Hello all, So my battery is at its end and I'm looking at the OPTIMA line. Anyone have experience with these? At the moment I don't have any crazy accessories on the rig but plan to be adding a few (winch, light-bar, etc ...). I'm thinking of going with the Deep cycle YellowTop D34 ...

'92 Cherokee - Death Wobble Won't Go Away....

So, for what it's worth (sounds like you've been through a lot) I just went through this "Death-wobble" craziness and the issue turned out to be bad cords in the tire. After reading about the issue for quite a while i replaced the stabilizer (started to dampen/mask the issue) then the trac-bar...

    exhaust

So i'm looking at upgrading my exhaust from the factory setup and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this matter? I hear multiple names thrown out there such as Banks, Mangnaflow, borla, etc.... Is any one particular brand geared more towards the 4.0L I6 or are they all basically...

    jeepspeed setup?

@oldschoolcj7: Sounds logical. Mine's a 4-door @Others: Yeah I've been reading over the rules, those are good and all but I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts and considerations they take when making modifications or choosing parts that meet the guidelines. Thanks for the feedback,

    jeepspeed setup?

@oldschoolcj7: Jeepspeed. I'm not too familiar with the desert racing series. Please enlighten :-) @southtj: I could go on discussing this forever but if you google "jeepspeed on a budget" you get a lot of insight into peoples jeepspeed setups. I would post a site but I guess i need to have...

    jeepspeed setup?

So I'm looking into turning my stock 2000 xj into a jeepspeed rig. I've been browsing though quite a few write-ups on "The Ultimate Jeepspeed rig" but I thought i'd get other opinions on a few things: 1.) If you had to build the rig in stages (lets say you didn't have wads of cash to blow on a...
