TJs have larger openings, which is why TJ flares were mentioned... With what you suggest, you will rub on the rear when offroading. Heck, I got 4 inches of suspension lift and I STILL rub at max flex when wheeling.

I dont agree with this one; with no thermostat, you will run TOO cool, and this will wear out the engine faster (engines like to operate at a certain temperature; in our case, at around 190*), and will also increase fuel economy because the ECU will not detect that the engine has reached...

If you have the stock front axle and your vacuum axle disconnect works, even the automatic lockers should be transparent to you on the street...
