    V8 Conversion Questions

If you are looking at GM engines it would most likely be easiest to purchase a GM donor truck. I think 70s had the solid front axles. This way you shouldn't need too many if any adaptors for your conversion to a V8. But, the pumpkin would be swapped from the driver side to the passenger side...

    5.9 swap?

Novak adapt has some information for you about the swaps. The Mopar Small Block V8 Engine - Novak Conversions If you have the AX15 transmission and the NP231 transmission from the Cherrokee I think you will be ok. As for the axles, the D35 will not hold up the power, just pull a Ford 8.8...

    slip yoke eliminator

It is a little easier now with a full width D60 in the front and a 14bolt in the rear. Before with the stock d30 and d35 it took minor trimming in the rear and a set of 1.5inch wheel spacers from Spydertrax in the front. At full flex without bump stops it would rub a little but not much. The...

    slip yoke eliminator

I rub slightly with 35" tires under a 3.5" fabtech spring lift, they only rub on the body slightly in the very twisty parts of a trail. Biggest problem with the 35s was rubbing on the springs at full lock turns. As for your 4-5inch lift I do not think you would have a problem with larger tires...

    throttle body injector

I think it is still your CPS or the computer under the dash because the injector will not recieve a signal to pulse (voltage) if either of those 2 are not working correctly. I hope to get to by buddy's place this weekend to grab my jeep notes and chiltons to be better help. Bacon

    throttle body injector

Check your crank position sensor. My 89 had a similar problem with fuel getting to the TBI but not through the injector. I found the crank position sensor was cracked and bent. Fixed that and still the same problem. I ended up having to replace the computer that is stuffed up and behind the...

With the switch to a 5.3 you will need new everything (minus TC) so plan on spending 6-8k or so unless you can find a good donor vehical for little. Novak Jeep Conversions - Home has a fairly nice knowledge base on the transplants and what nots. Bacon

    yj ax15???????

Kenneth, I have an AX5 sitting in my garage. I replaced it with a SM465 for the granny gear for crawling. I believe the AX5 is still in good condition, never had any problems with it. There are about 130kish miles on it. The transmission is in Denver, Co (80227). I just want it gone...
