not sure about the 4.0 gasket, but the 258 intake/exhaust gasket is one piece, so i'd go ahead and remove the intake too and replace the gasket. just soak the manifold stud nuts in pb blaster a day or two in advance.

what kind of welder are you getting, snitty? if its not a mig welder, you may be better off by oxy-acetylene welding the patches in. doing "fine" work with a stick welder can be a pia. tacking is a lot easier with the mig. also, the mig wire feed and amperage can be turned down so that thin...

i used the smallest drill in my drill index. it was a wire-size drill, i think it was about 0.040". i have not had to do the weekly idle tube cleaning since drilling them out, about a year ago.
