    258 knocking!! What a surprise!

i'm with the judge, even though it sounds like the noise is coming from the lower part of the block, i'd check the rockers (experience talking). i had a ticking sound from my 258 too. i removed the valve cover to reseal it and decided to check the rockers and 2 of them had play in them when...

    Header Project ETA Tues 21

not sure about the 4.0 gasket, but the 258 intake/exhaust gasket is one piece, so i'd go ahead and remove the intake too and replace the gasket. just soak the manifold stud nuts in pb blaster a day or two in advance.

how to get more power at highway speeds

is it a 258? how many miles? my 84 had lost a lot of power before i had to rebuild the engine. you might want to check the compression on the cylinders, there may be a weak one. since the rebuild, i can run 70 and still feel the engine pulling as it accelerates, but 70 is really faster than i...

    HELP!!!!! Spring troubles!!!

if it were mine, i'd torch it, since the springs are being replaced anyway. you could cut the old spring off and then burn away the rubber bushings and cut out the bolt and steel bushing. i put new spring bushings in my cj and i can tell you that when a bolt siezes inside a bushing, it can be...
