    Hydrolocked and Recovered but...

I'm with TC and Craig, better to waste some oil than a motor. How does your transmission fluid look?

    Full Size Jeep

I finally got the wife's 89 Grand on the road........what a tank. We took the family for a woods ride the other night and the thing was unstoppable. I was very impressed with the boat in it's stock form, the limited slip even still works....and PLENTY of room for the kids. There's got to be a...

cj full doors vs yj full doors

I'd say the CJ doors would be more prone to rust just do to the fact that the last one rolled of the assembly line 21 years ago. If they aren't rusted out chances are they would at least have the stress cracks near the wings.

    The Jeep Wave

You can always tell the newbies, the "do I know that guy" look gives them away. I sometimes find myself waving when I'm in the work truck and wife's car - thats REALLY got to confuse them.

    Cheap Reliable Winch

You pretty much have cheap OR reliable, I don't think there's such a thing as having both. You really need to look at what kind of wheeling you'll be doing and what you'll be using it for. If you're doing light wheeling and WANT a winch from time to time then you can settle for cheap. If...

    Multiplying Jeeps

Nothing spectacular for this one - she's going to be an asphalt queen - probably just some light family wheeling through the pines. The girls were tired of all the bugs falling on them in the CJ. Do you know how many times we've had to stop and evacuate due to spiders?

    Multiplying Jeeps

What is it about these things? It seems like you get one and then another shows up. I started working on my SJ project on Saturday and my partner says "theres another one of these at a junk yard up the road, why don't we go take a look at it?". Seeing how we weren't very motivated and it was top...

    CJ7 tub weight

We used to pick them off the frame with an engine hoist, a block of wood, and two straps. We'd bring the hoist in from the rear. Put the block of wood between the hoist arm and roll bar. Hook the straps from the arm to the door hinges. It got a little hairy a few times but it worked. Now we...

    Channel 24

Semi-tractors are about the only thing out there that will allow you to mount a twin system with the proper distance between the antennas. I've found the Firestick loaded fiberglass to be the best in the shortest/cheapest range as they can be easily tuned with the little stubby section under...

    Channel 24

The receive end doesn't really matter as far as the Standing Wave Ratio (SWR). If they can hear you but you can't hear them then chances are their SWR is too high. Getting your SWR as low as you can will keep you from burning out the transmit side of your radio.

    Channel 24

I've had tons of radios in my time and I'd have to say that Galaxy radios would have to be at the top of my list. All the radios I have left are packed away. The last mobile that I was running was a DX88HL and it was quite a rig. My last base: http://www.rigpix.com/cbfreeband/galaxy_dx2517.htm...
