Will my Jeep run if I remove my emissions junk?

In Crook County Oregon, (where my Jeep is registerd), there is no such thing as emissions controls. Therefore, I was wondering if I could lose all the lame-o smog junk on my 4.0. If I do this will my Jeep even run? Someone out there has to have tried this. Thanks guys.

    muffler????

I just put a 40 series Flowmaster Delta Flow on my 93. With the straight 6 it sort of sounds like a giant fart can off a honda Civic...I'm not that happy with it. BUT, with a V6 (like you have), it will sound better. I had the same muffler on an '03 Dakota with a 3.9 V6 and it sounded pretty...

Engine knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door

I may catch some flack over this, but, before you drop 1,150 on a rebuild I would suggest dumping a bottle of Lucas oil additive in your engine and running it for a few minutes. I'd be willing to bet that knock mellows out, or even goes away completely. I swear that stuff is a gift from God...

    Why Can't I Articulate?

4" leaf spring lift...Check Longer shocks...Check Removed Sway bar...Check So why won't my YJ torque way out like some of these guy's rigs I see in pictures? I've got to be overlooking something. Is it worth it to get those "boomarang" shackles? Somebody throw me a bone here.

Imagine the beating you would give that Zimbabwean bus driver once you got out of the nut house. They would probably throw me right back in there! :D

Who has the best jeep for 2012?

I'm going with Steelheadz on this one, only guy I know that has an arsenal onboard. But he might not get too far with that 360! :D

YJ Swaybars, Need 'em or not?

So I took off the sway bar today, don't know what I was worried about, it took me about 20 minutes. :o I took the rig out to test it right after, but I really didn't notice very much differance. It should tweak way out like all the pictures right? I may just have too stiff of springs or...

    newb/newb

WOW! I picked up my '93 YJ a month or so ago for $3,500 and I thought I got a good deal! AND IT HAS ALMOST 200,000 MILES ON IT! Well congrats on breaking into the Jeep world. You are in a great area for it. I used to take my Grand Cherokee out around the Prescott area when I lived in...

    My $20 hard top!

I'm not sure about the TJ soft doors. I was going to head down to the Fourwheel drive shop and see if they had a full door to test fit. This is turning into a serious project...

I'm about to add some lights to the rig. Thinking two more up front, one spot beam i can move, like on a cop car, and one in the rear. Do I need to get a heavier duty alternator to handle all that?

    My $20 hard top!

Re: My $20 hard top! {UPDATE} So I got the hard top on, and even though it isn't a perfect fit, I think it's going to work just fine. If you look at the pics. you'll see I had to notch the corners of the top b/c it was hanging up on the windshield frame. Even with the notching there is still...

YJ Swaybars, Need 'em or not?

"Pan Hard Parts?" What's that? And if I can torque out like that by just pulling my sway bars off I will be a happy boy! The thing is, I was looking at another web site and it seems it will be harder then I thought to remove them. Anyone know I good "how to" article WITH PICTURES PLEASE...

    My $20 hard top!

No, those were collected from the "standing there staring at it with an open beer wondering how the heck I'm gonna make this thing work" stage of the project. I've got the week off work to help my wife, (who just gave birth to son #2), so naturally that translates to, "a week off to work on the...

    My $20 hard top!

I got this hard top for twenty bucks. It has a few scratches I can easily sand down and cover with herc. I need a new rear window glass, but the defrosters, wiper motor and arm, and hinges are there. There is one good sized chunk missing, (see pic), but all in all, 20 bucks seemed good to me...

securing firearms in a YJ and etc.....

I knew I liked this guy. Can't wait to get back to Oregon where you can have a gun rack in your rig without the Siera club throwing red paint on your rig. "MEAT IS MURDER!" Yup, and I'm a serial killer!

    wenches

As far as "wenches" as mother-in-laws goes, I can't think of a better place for mine then on the front bumper of my Jeep, especially if she was installed there at about 65 mph.

There are no stupid questions, right?

I'm with Steelheadz on this one. the fact that your clock works intermitantly probably means you just have a loose connector rattling around in there shorting out. If you pull your gauges out and look at the connections you'll probably find about 19 years of corrosion. Take a small wire brush...
