1077334 first thing i'd do is put a timing light on it. then check the choke to be sure that its opening. i'm not sure what kind of choke the weber has, but it may be sticking [addsig]

installing one piece axles in amc 20

1072043 I've recently replaced an axle in my 84 cj. It's a pretty straight-forward operation. 1. Jack up and support the Jeep. 2. Remove the tire. 3. Remove the brake drum and all brake parts. You'll have to disconnect the brake line at this point. 4. Remove the brake backing plate and...

    Pic of my Jeep

1073762 roundeye and L33TJ33P - sounds like you'll be in my neck of the woods. I just moved from Bainbridge, after 13 years there to Blakely. Got plenty of slick red clay around here after a good rain. Give me a yell, if you're in the neighborhood.[addsig]

    Pic of my Jeep

1073789 My name is Espy Smith. I worked for Bainbridge Mills in the early 90's, Harrell Equipment up through '98, the Y for a couple of years, and Lynch Systems for a couple of years. Also taught at the college part-time for about 10 years. With all the people I've come into contact at these...

    What do you do?

1074259 Jack of all trades. Right now, I'm a machinist/welder for a company that builds peanut milling equipment. In the past, I've worked in engineering; doing machine design; taught college and high school, and done building maintenance and repairs.[addsig]

    AC help!

1074260 the first thing I check when I do a/c work is the coils. make sure they're clean. restricted air flow across the coils of an a/c system can make it have high head pressure, or freeze up, depending on which coil is clogged. either of these can cause the a/c to quit working.[addsig]

    Engine dies while running.

1069617 I've got an 84 cj7 that would not idle below about 1800 rpm. I took the venturi cluster out and drilled out the ends of the little brass tubes. After that, I took the carb apart and cleaned it. You would not believe the amount of crud built up in the float bowl. Since I've done this...

    Engine dies while running.

1069621 Yeah, I had a little brain poot about the rain. Its been a long day. It could be a problem with the ignition control module. On my cj, its mounted behind the front driver-side wheel well. Maybe water is getting into it. Could you have a crack in your distributor cap? [addsig]

    Starter problems

1070389 sounds like the same problems I had with my 84cj. I took out the venturi cluster and drilled the brass tubes out to 0.040". While it was apart, i took the carb apart and cleaned the float bowl and all the tiny passages in the carb body. Since doing this, the old cj has had no problems...

    faulty gas gauge

1070820 Try pulling the sending unit out of the tank and lightly sanding the stem, where the slide moves up and down. Over time, they will rust and the sliding contact will not be able to make a good connection with the resistor in the tank, so the gauge does not read correctly.[addsig]
