    My '93 YJ switch mystery

I have the same switches in my '95 YJ, but even with the wire plugged up they have never worked. My interior lights do work but only when turning them on from the dimmer switch. It's pretty annoying in the winter when I want those to work when the door opens. My guess is that my switches are...

    Questions about my Grand Cherokee

... That's nothing. Half the people I know have minor scrapes like those on their wheels. I thought you had a big chunk missing or something. If you really want to fix it, the only good way is to replace the wheel. If you want to make it look a little better, get some 300-grit sandpaper and...

    Questions about my Grand Cherokee

For starters, this is not the correct forum. This is the CJ, YJ, TJ, and JK forum. So basically, you're in the CJ/Wrangler section ;) The Grand Cherokee is the ZJ, and that forum was one more down. I'll try to give you some help regardless. Unfortunately, the phrases "Replacement keyless-entry...

engine, trans combo. for my jeep build?

What he said. Be patient and keep looking. Besides that, I have to recommend the 5.7L Vortec/4L60E combo. They get incredible MPG for a V8 and have tons of power stock. The swap is also fairly easy and straightforward (from what I have read at least) and since you'd be going to the 4L60E...

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Yeah, but I was kinda wanting something stronger, i.e. something that would give me some wiggle room for a lot more power in the future. A heavy duty trans is what I'm gunning for. I figure, if I'm gonna spend all this money and go to all this trouble, why limit myself? I think I'm go with the...

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Looks like the NV4500 is out, I can't find an NV4500 -> 21-spline NP231-J adapter. I guess my only other option is the SM465, but that's a 4-spd and I'd rather just go auto at that point.

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Yeah, true. If I go with the Vortec the only mods I have planned for now are a performance exhaust and a nice set of headers (I'm thinking Hooker.)

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Maybe, but they wouldn't have any power. That's why I wanted to go with the 2.8L or the 4BT, so I could have some extra power when I want it. I think the 5.7L Vortec is the best option so far.

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Sounds good :D I will start looking around for NV4500's. I think I would stick with the stock NP321-J that I have, though; I don't want to get into changing the ratio on a tcase. But I don't have an AX-15. I have an AX-5, and they are pretty weak. I'm running the 4-banger, remember? :D EDIT...

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Well, after poking around and reading lots of diesel swap info, I really don't think it's a good idea right now. With all the trouble I would probably have with it I'd rather just rebuild my AMC150 and slap a turbo on it. A 5.7L Vortec sounds pretty good to me, actually. 'Easy' is always good...

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Thanks for all the input so far. Ahh. I was kind of afraid of that. According to some stuff I've been reading, the Liberty CRD gets about 20-25 actual MPG (people say that the overhead MPG counter in the Liberty CRD is very inaccurate and regularly reports 5 MPG more than actual.) 20-25 mpg...

Liberty to YJ 2.8L diesel swap. Possible? Economically viable?

Hi all. I sense that my engine is on it's way out and won't last much longer. Maybe a year, maybe less. I have the 2.5L now and I was already getting really tired of 16mpg and a top speed of 65mph. If it's gonna die, I'm gonna consider swaps first. I'm really interested in a possible 2.8L...

    Front wheel drive not engaging

TJ's have a balanced front driveline from factory to make up for the fact that they do not use a disconnect collar. I wonder why Jeep didn't just do the same for the YJ's? It's a design that is much stronger and much less prone to failure. I guess they learned their lesson with the YJ setup...

    Front wheel drive not engaging

That's what I did. I didn't want to replace the vac motor because they are prone to failure, and I didn't want to drop $215 on the PosiLok. So I crawled under there and flipped that shift fork housing right around, and now the front axle is always engaged. You will get a little extra vibration...

finally getting ready for the swap/92 wrangler

Certainly. Do a full tune-up on the new engine. Replace any and all filters (air, fuel, oil) and all the spark plugs and plug wires. New dizzy cap and rotor are good ideas too. All of this stuff together should be under $100. Certainly. The Chevy smallblock 350 EFI / 4L6E auto trans combo out...

    i've very sorry... samurai thread

No disrespect taken. It's all about opinion, I guess. A Samurai's real advantages are smaller size and lower weight. True, they can get into places a Wrangler could never fit into. But there's a lot of work and money involved to get it there in the first place. Factory Wranglers have more ground...
