    Tire question

Typically 31x10.50 is the biggest you can fit on a stock height TJ. Depending on the backspacing of your rims you may have to adjust the steering stops to prevent rubbing at full steering lock.

    Didn't think of that...

Thought I should add this. That was September 5 that I painted those wheels. I just lightly sanded the wheels then painted, didn't even use primer. I have noticed a couple of really small scratches but so far the paint is holding up great.

    Didn't think of that...

Its rustoleum high performance wheel paint. I used the graphite color. 2 cans should be more than enough. One might do it. It was about $7 a can at AutoZone.

Jeep Virgin about to take the plunge

Just my opinion but you will not be happy with a 4cyl automatic. Had a 97 like that and it was terrible.

    I hate hummers!!

Ha ha. Tell us how you REALLY feel. I understand your pain though, I think I threaten to hurt an engineer anytime I work on a vehicle.

    Didn't think of that...

Ok so I didn't think the pic attached since it gave me a message about the app crashing. But since it worked here's a couple more.

    Didn't think of that...

I don't hardly put enough miles on my tires to wear them out anymore. I'm more concerned with then rotting off. Which also made it really hard to justify spending money on new rims. So I went with $15 worth of spray paint instead.

    Ticking noise

Going out on a limb here but I'd check the transmission mount too. It could potentially be allowing the drivetrain to shift out of place enough to bind up the u-joints. Like I said, out on a limb, but easy enough to check if your not having any luck finding something else. Sent from my Droid...

    Upgrading tires

I thought the JK Rubicons come with 32s? If I'm right the only thing that should keep you from running 32s also would be improper backspacing on your wheels. Sent from my Droid using Jeepz

Extended oil filter - good idea?

I've read on various jeep sites where a lot of people do run the bigger filters. Never have myself. Thought about it but just never think of it when I'm changing the oil. Sent from my Droid using Jeepz

Your Jeep knowledge - self taught or formal training?

Always been taking stuff apart and "helping" older family members. I did take 2 years of auto mechanics in high school that covered the basics. Everything else is self taught/learned by reading. Nathan Sent from my Droid using Jeepz

    Girlfriend just don't understand ;)

At one point a few years ago I think there was a thread on this site with all the reasons a Jeep is better than a woman. Funny read, but might not want to show her that one. Ha ha Oh and Terry, funny story. I decided to paint the rims on my Jeep the other day (tried to start a thread with pics...

    Soft Top Question

Yea I don't know what I was thinking when I asked that. I guess it just sounded like he was saying it was a pain to take off if you were out and about. Is it as quick to take off and on as the factory top?

    Soft Top Question

How is the noise level compared to a regular sailcloth top on the highway? I know you said with the windows down its loud, what about with them up? And maybe I'm not real smart but I guess I need you to explain what you mean about storing it when you take it down away from home. It doesn't fold...

    RC jeep???

Im pretty sure that you can get a Wrangler body to fit a TMaxx chassis. Thats probably the route I would take if I was you, as Traxxas is well known for being a great beginner vehicle that can take loads of abuse.
