    Possible cj7 drive train upgrades

I ran a stock 30 with a lockrite in it spinning true measurement 34's with a throttle body 350 and SM465. I broke a u-joint once while jerking someone out of a bad hole. You can upgrade the axles and joints or go whole hog for the 44, it's your choice. My opinion would be to lock it and upgrade...

    '83 CJ7 Electrical problems?

When you say the battery is dead do you mean there's no juice in it, or it's just not getting where it's supposed to?

correct me if i am wrong

Never had a problem with my 20. We bent a piece of rollbar tubing up over the pumpkin and used straps to pull it down to the tubes then welded them. From what I've been told the one-piece axles are stronger than the stock 44 axle but not quite as strong as an upgraded 44. There's no question...

The horn blows, so does the.......

If it were a wire rubbing I would think it would happen all the time not just when the button is pressed. I've had problems with the internal ring and that caused the horn to blow when I turned the wheel. Sounds like a relay hanging up to me as well.

    Hey all

Haven't had a lot of time to cruise the board except to skim over the topics when my browser opens. Today I took some time to look around and have to say that there are a lot of new names that I don't recognize. It's still the best Jeep board on the web by far and any newcomers should stick...

    Hey! My 2nd post !

Don't think there is such a thing as adjusting your valves with hydraulic lifters, pretty sure they're set and forget. I did find this when I did a search: Adjusting lifters on 2.5 4 Cylinder - JeepForum.com

    Getting Rid of Carpet?

Ok, I thought I remembered a thread a long time ago about heat, maybe under the passenger side. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

Isn't there an issue with heat from the exhaust on TJ's?

86 Jeep cj 7 engine swap

Okay, I just saw that the GM 4 2.5 was used from 80-83. In any case I would use the good running Jeep 2.5, look for a howell set-up and regear. You'll be surprised by the difference the fuel injection will make on it's own.

86 Jeep cj 7 engine swap

Wasn't the 4 Cyl a GM motor (the Iron Duke) back then, or was that earlier? Either way there was so much GM and Ford parts in Jeeps back then I would say the "keeping it Jeep" line is a little fuzzy. If you're worried about keeping it stock then just regear....that little 4 banger was a damn...

    Shopping for Wagoneer

I had a Grand Waggy, sold it last year. It was an 89 and had it's share of rust, electrical problems, and was getting an issue with the factory limited slip that when I ran it up at highway speed and she got hot it would start grabbing in the corners. Electrical problems are a real problem for...

Newbie paid $500 for this CJ7

Welcome to the family...and, like it or not, YJ's are part of the family too so no knocking on the cousins just because their eyes are different than ours. AMC's were a hodge podge of parts from the other manufacturers but that is an AMC 304. Your options for that are endless and you'll find...
