Many thanks. So, you are ruling out a vacuum, leak?

    Vacuum leak- maybe?

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (only 175K miles) that had developed a new problem that I've never seen. I am hoping it's as simple as a vacuum leak and not a transmission that's about to go south. It has an automatic transmission, but last week it was acting (in town driving) like I...

"Part time" light flickering at idle while in 2WD

Thanks. Come to think of it I did drive over some really rough roads under construction recently.... So, absent any other symptoms, you wouldn't think it's an urgent, 'must-repair now' item?

"Part time" light flickering at idle while in 2WD

I noticed the "part time" light flickering while at a light recently- should I worry? (2003 Grand Cherokee, 150K miles). I rarely use 4WD- only in the winter when our roads don't get plowed until late morning. I am not a DIY mechanic any longer, but I hesitate to take something simple to the...

jeep wont start, no fuel pressure, changed fuel pump, still no pressure

My jeep did the same thing a couple of years ago. And it was driving me nuts because it would just stop running. And not restart for a few minutes. The independent dealer who sold me the Jeep was also at a loss to explain it. After one day when my wife got stranded on her way to work, I...

What's up with cars sold at auction houses?

In a month or two, there will be a lot of late-model cars on auction sites. If the auctioneer is honest, they will tell you that it is a refurbished car from the Texas floods.

    No doors legal?

It depends on the state. Every state has its own set of vehicle laws. Ask your insurance agent. The doors are part of the structural integrity of the vehicle, so legal or not, passenger injuries from an accident may not be covered. (The driver's injuries are not covered by your vehicle's...

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Starts runs for second shuts off HELP PLEASE

Sounds similar to what happened to my 2003 Grand Cherokee. It would just turn off, as if someone removed the key. In our case, it was random. My wife would be driving and the Jeep would just stop. When I got to her to swap cars, I started it up and drove home. No logic at all. Turns out...

2010 Liberty Tail lights working, brake lights not working

I've had the EXACT same problem with my 2003 Grand Cherokee. The problem is a very crappy contact design in the housing. I have to move the socket a little and the problem goes away. The next time, I will replace the bulbs with LEDs then superglue the socket to the housing.

    Coolant Level Warning

So, Drewbuddy, you suggest that I simply disconnect the battery to reset the overhead?

    Coolant Level Warning

Thanks Drewbuddy - I don't have AZC, just the old controls for basic heat, but where does the heater figure in the coolant level sensor?

    Coolant Level Warning

Thanks, I didn't think of looking inside the pverflow bottle. As I understand it the sensor is a float that controls a variable resistor. There is no dashboard light, just the chime and message in the overhead display.

    Coolant Level Warning

I've got a '03 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 125k miles... Shortly after a coolant service at Sears Auto (suck out the old, pour in the new) I started getting a "Coolant Level Low" warning in my overhead display. The coolant level in the overflow bottle is good, so I replaced the coolant Level sensor...
