can we please get the ads and menu off the side?

Since the Ads help Terry support the site, how can we use them to help him get paid...and continue to perform such a valuable service? I would not have had nearly as much success with out the help of the kind folks who frequent here, and would still be pushing my jeep around the yard...

    4.2 sputtering

If you suspect a vacuum leak, here is a great tip I got from my carb guy to check. Take a clean 2 liter bottle, fill it with water, drill a small hole in the cap, and when the engine is running spray the water at the base of the carb and the intake manifold. If there is a leak you will know...

Update on Tire Swap situation--More advice

You could sell them to eachother for fairly cheap...on paper. I would make an appointment at the DMV and ask someone how they will screw with you. I just got my CJ-7 from a guy in Burbank last July and you both will have to hava a SMOG cert less than 90 days old. The good news is I only paid...

    negatively affect smog test?

Noskills, Another option might be to hold a second set of stock size wheels and tires for your longer road drives. If you still have the extra old stock wheels...decent used road tires would be cheaper than doing all of the other mods, and you could use 5th gear again.

    the death of torx

When you strip one out, and don't have access to a welder, I take my Dremmel...or a hacksaw if on a trail...and cut a slot in the head. Then take your flat screwdriver and a visegrip to it. Worked every time for me. Plus a old tupperware full of odd bolts to replace the TORX with.

    yj with no power

Do you have the pulse air injection (Emission controls) on your 4.2? There are 2 air hoses that run from the Air cleaner to the CAT and exhaust pipe with a check valve and vacuum controlled air valve. If you run 20 Min and have the problem, with the engine idling, and with the lid off the air...

    No thermostat!

Thank you all! I had replaced the thermostat immediately after I found the problem, and in 24 hours (after the permatex cuerd) I was rewarded with 180 degrees of de-foggin love :D I will keep my eyes open, and as important my ears, for potential problems the last owner was trying to hide, but...

    No thermostat!

My heat had not been working since buying my CJ in july, and after reading about my serpintine belt (and the probable wrong pump) I figured I'd just wait until I had time to replace it...Turns out the last owner forgot? to put in the thermostat. Should I expect any problems from this? If none...

vibration when in 4wd on cj7

Rear trac bar removal? It seems to me that it would be a component that was static when in 2WD and dynamic in 4WD...the only thing I can think of that fits the discription would be the drive shaft. A thorough inspection of the front drive shaft looking ftom the T-case to the Diff for anything...

    Unpredicatable start

Sorry, I've never owned anything but an 85 or earlier AMC. colerie said that there was a good spark on the plug end so working simple to dificult on the troubleshooting, I wonder about fuel then timing (new distributor?), over-gapped plugs...along those lines. Can you get trouble codes on a...

    starting problems, help!

Take your starter to Autozone with the battery. They can test it for you for free. It's easy to take off and will give you a small hole to look at the flywheel teeth. Mongo

Got the T-case bolted down, Uni's in and the shaft back on last night. A quick trip to the beach told me that it all works ( by the Tug-N-Pull head out windo hard right turn method). Thanks again for all of your help. Matt
