Oil Pressure gauge or sending unit?

RE: Spool VS Locker I would definetly second the use of a Mechanical gauge. That rules out the posibility of a loose wire causing it to jump. Mine btw reads about 50 all the time until the engine warms up. After that is does drop till about 25psi at idle and will go back up to about 50 at...

    Rough Starts

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Axle fluid leaking into rear brakes I would start by looking at the choke on the carb. If it is opening too quickly it will cause what you are describing. I need to adjust mine atleast twice a year. You have a summer and a winter setting.

Axle fluid leaking into rear brakes

one pieceaxle help Just as a guess but did you happen to look at the axle shaft when you replaced the seal. If the old seal wore a groove in the shaft it won't seal right. This could cause a slight leak even with a brand new seal.

    Engine Troubles of some sort

I would start by adjusting the ignition timming. Mine runs best at about 8 degress. Set at 600 RPM with the vacuum advance plugged. Try lossening the dist and start it and carfully turn it till you can get it idle better then time it and try adjusting the mixture again.

1998 Cherokee $1500 and still not fixed

RE: Building a fiberglass center console....any advice? Just another guess but I would look over the wiring to the coil. The bull dog remote stared has an option to be wired to the tach input off off of the computer. This tells it when the engine is actually running. It is possible the is...

    Cross Drilled or Slotted

cj7 I am asking for overall performance or longevity or either. I know they make some with Both but they are expensive. I am looking for which one seems to work better. My brakes heat up way too quickly. I know it isn't a sports car but wow... What do you all think?

new carb, now got a problem

RE: high beams work, low beams won Just a guess did you connect the power wire to the Electric Choke thermostat? If you forgot it and left it short to the block somewhere it could cause just enough power drain if not fused.

    4.0L operating temp

I never said it would definetly do that but It can and I have seen it. If it doesn't reach operating temp the engine never leans out the fuel mixture like you said. The problem is you are leaving the POSSIBILITY to accelerate using up your O2 sensors and Catalytic converter. Even if this...

    4.0L operating temp

If you need Emissions in you area you should keep the 210 in there. You can end up changing the long term fuel trim and eventually it can cause you CEL to come on. Not to mention losing power and fuel economy.

    Major motorcraft carb problems--PLEASE HELP!

If the choke is closed it will also cause the idle to be high. On the motorcraft carb there is a fast idle cam that keeps the idle higher until the engine warms up and the choke opens. This will stop it from hitting the idle speed screw. You need to find out why the choke is not opening. if...

Its getting warm and my jeep is getting hot

I don't know what temp yours is supposed to be but my 2000 is supposed to run at 210. It says right there though and never goes any higher. As for the belt you don't need to change it. You will leave the water pump pulley on there. You will just take the fan off the pulley and bolt it back on.

Coil questions: What ignition coil works best?

Change component name to sway or stabilizer bar If you still want to know about coils, you really need to get a resistor for the coil no matter what coil you use. I had fried 4 ignition modules before I put a simple balast resistor in, still I burn out the points of the dist cap about every...

Its getting warm and my jeep is getting hot

To check the fan clutch run the engine until it is hot, turn on engine. Be careful since the engine will be hot and try to spin the fan. You should find a decent amount of drag trying to spin the fan. If it spins easy it should probably be replaced. I don't know about a water pump clunking...

Its getting warm and my jeep is getting hot

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: "Sandwhich" or "Sammich&a I would not overlook the posibility that your water pump might be bad. One other place to look is the clutch on the fan. If its worn out it won't spin the fan as fast as it should.

    Next 2150 question

RE: Been and Gone! I just wanted to say that having also seen both the 2150 is much better than the Weber if you get the right size and install it right. Don't get me wrong the weber it a good carb, but from what I have heard and seen they are just too hard to tune properly. Sometimes you...

    Throttle position sensor?

I would say look at the motor mount you replaced. oftem times there is a loop of wire from the frame side of the mount to the engine side. This makes sure the engine is grounded since the mount is rubber. My CJ has this setup. If its not making a good ground that can cause this.

    synthetic oil

RE: Hey Mingez, Is this true? I have to agree. I change my oil every 3,000 no matter what. And you can't rely on whether it looks dark or not either. Whether you go with Sythetic or not is your choice. I use it and like it. I have seen it keep a motor running when it should have ate itself.

RE: Re: RE: happy happy joy joy The only reason I said that was it is disturbing how so many people complain about how terrible out economy was and that the government needs to do something. cj7 won't start after distributor swap please help

I would guess your timming is off. You can't set the timming at 1600 RPM. Tha factory speck is for like 650 rpm I beleve so that the Cetripetal Advance is not working at that point and with the Vacuum advance plugged. Without doing that you have no reference at all as to what you are even...

    2000 XJ Rough Idle

Not Really, It does it sometimes and sometimes is doesn't. It doesn't seem to have much to do with temp except it does it less when it is cold but it still does it. It seems like the fuel mixture if off. Like on a carbed engine with the mixture just a hair too lean. It will idle fine for...
