    Passenger airbag

For future crazy people who think they want to remove the heater core (think here...tedious and challenging) from their 2011 JK, here is important piece of information. There is a 13mm nut that is double hidden from view. You have to twist the airbag cover to expose the vent ridge along the...

    Passenger airbag

I have been removing the dashboard on my 2011 JK to replace the heater core. I have searched the YouTube videos and any write-ups and I have come up empty handed on how to get the passenger airbag out. I have separated every clip and the bag still seems to be held by something directly in the...

directional signals on 2003 grand cherokee

Gotta add this correction. The directional signals worked for about 10 days and then they started acting up again. I read some other threads on this forum and after purchasing and replacing the flasher relay, I think I'm good to go. So the solution was probably the relay and not the PC board...

    Turn signal flasher - JGC

Thank you jeepless20, you think logically and I did check the fuse/relay block in the engine compartment. Alas, no flasher relay. Thank you Mud4feet. The second website was very clear on how much of the dash had to be removed. It's a lot easier when someone who has experienced removing the dash...

    Turn signal flasher - JGC

jeepless20, Thank you for your response. I tracked the flasher relay clicking noise to the black plastic fuse box under the dash on the left. But I am at a loss to figure out where the black relay plugs in? I remember the good old days when the relays were easy to locate and replace. I see...

    Turn signal flasher - JGC

RUPedro, I have the same question. I have the relay (9 pin black case) and I have searched the steering column and the relay/fuse section of the engine compartment. Is the relay hidden behind the glove box? Did you ever find it? Gotta be somewhere. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. BTW...

directional signals on 2003 grand cherokee

Thank you B192734 for your reply. I checked the elctrical connections and they were ok. I replaced the switch ( a lot easier than the 89 cherokee) on the column and no more problems. The good news is that when I cracked open the old switch, I found a printed circuit board which had a bad spot...

directional signals on 2003 grand cherokee

New info...when I rotate the light switch from off to the next 3 choices ending in auto, the radio light dims. Clearly a short or drain somewhere...any ideas where to start? Could this be a bad relay? What would drain sometimes and not other times? Any suggestions would be appreciated...still...

directional signals on 2003 grand cherokee

Recently I sold my 89 cherokee and purchased a 2003 grand cherokee. I love it. But the directional signals work sometimes and sometimes they don't. I have not noticed a pattern to when they work or not work. I tried searching the forum for threads and did not get any hits. If someone can...

    head gasket?

Head gasket solved the problem. To recap the oil leak story...I replaced the "O" ring under the oil filter (it was hard and brittle), I replaced the oil pan gasket and rear oil seal, and I replaced the valve cover gasket. As we know, problem solving goes from cheap and easy repair to longer...

    head gasket?

Thanks for the quick reply Lippy! I was kicking the steel seal idea around as a quick fix...but now its off to head gasket city this weekend. Thanks again.

    head gasket?

Thanks for your reply Bounty Hunter. BTW, have you ever tried a product called "Steel Seal"? It is supposed to work in the coolant system to seal the head gasket. Just curious if you, or any forum readers, have heard if it really works? Thanks again.

    head gasket?

There is some oil leaking from the head gasket. I do not see oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. Both are still pretty clean. I do see some water vapor out of the tailpipe on startup. My question is...can the head gasket be re-torqued down to tighten it up? Or am I looking at replacing...

    oil leak 89 cherokee XJ

Thanks, Jeepr, I had replaced the valve cover gasket a few years ago and I never thought to check lately to see if its leaking. Its an easy and cheap fix. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll replace it this weekend and let you know if it worked. Cool.

    oil leak 89 cherokee XJ

What could possibly be leaking oil in the bell housing? I've replaced the rear main seal and the oil pan gasket. I also replaced the "O" ring behind the oil filter bracket. Someone on the forum a while back had suggested that could leak. Well...that "O" ring had hardened and was leaking badly...

    Cherokee stalls at start-up

Thanks Jeepr, the Map sensor seems to have done the trick. I checked the vacuum and it was fine, but the electrical connection was crudded up. I cleaned the terminals with a battery cleaner and now it works great. Thanks again for the help.

    Cherokee stalls at start-up

Jeepr, Yes, its an 89 XJ. Thanks for the suggestions...next chance to try them will be Wednesday morning. I'll let you know what I found out. Thanks again.

    Cherokee stalls at start-up

My cherokee stalls 2-3 times after starting and then runs great. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, air fitler. The vacuum lines are clean as a whistle. I ruled out the ignition system because it runs great after warming up for about 2 minutes. Am I missing a sensor that tells the jeep...

    starter relay

The last chapter...I removed the gas tank (easier the second time) and pulled the pump. The top rubber grommet had moved and the body bracket was touching one of the wire terminals (hence the big short and wire melt down). I adjusted the grommet, tightened the connection holding the metal...

    starter relay

I think I found the relay (2nd one in from the front of the jeep). I switched them around and still no power after 2 seconds. My question now is ...why would the relay stop the 12 volts to the pump? I hear a click and the volts go to zero. Shouldn't I hear a click as the relay takes over and...
