    Nutter Bypass and Vacuum Lines

Sorry, I was lumping things together that aren't necessarily related. I meant the just the lines under and around the air filter housing. But thanks for the info, I didn't know that about the EGR. I'll give it all a shot today. mcmud, the Nutter Bypass tells you to change the dizzy vacuum from...

    Nutter Bypass and Vacuum Lines

Wow. Here I am googling images of post-nutter vacuum lines, and what do I come upon but my own damned post! Thank you for the images, Saddle Tramp, and my deepest apologies for not thanking you months ago. I believe that was around the time I decided to give up on repairs and run it into the...

    Clutch problem... again?!

89 YJ 6cyl. I had my clutch redone last December while replacing a leaking slave cylinder. Although it's not the exact same problem (I'm not noticeably losing fluid), I can barely shift now. I thought I heard somewhere that the internal slaves are a commonly reoccurring problem. Is this true...

    Carb?

I don't know much about the different carbs, but you can cut down on the vacuum hoses after nutter'ing it and rerouting around all the parts no longer necessary.

broken passenger seat (but not the way you're thinking)

My problem was the seat itself, the side bar in the lower cushion had snapped in half. May not be the same issue as yours, as mine was pretty easy to diagnose - passengers kept complaining of being stabbed in the arse whenever I accelerated.

Brake Lights not working, everything else is!!!

Have you checked the wiring connection at the top of the brake pedal? I somehow managed to kick mine off one day and it killed the reverse and brake lights.

    Nutter Bypass and Vacuum Lines

Does anyone have a modified vacuum hose diagram for a Nutter'd engine? I want to get rid of the unnecessary lines, but an not too sure what to keep and what to bypass, plug, or just leave open.

    Hard Steering

Awesome post for narrowing down a steering problem, Steelheadz. Seeing as the problem happened so conveniently soon after the ball joint job, I'm thinking it's something mechanical. I probably distrubed the copious amounts of rust and grease integral to holding the damned thing together. The...

    tight steering on 2002 Wrangler

I saw this thread after I posted mine and was almost really hoping you'd come back tomorrow and say a new box was the answer. Hey, at least you got a refund! Good luck Tryon!

    Hard Steering

I've an 89 YJ and over the last week or so it's become noticably more difficult to steer. At higher speeds there's a little more resistance than usual when guiding the jeep left or right. At low speed, like when parking, it'll be tough then sometimes ease up a bit before going back to being...

    carb vacuum hoses

Although the page is based on a CJ7, it's still a 258i6. Vacuum Hoses This man is a god.

    Where to find POR-15?

Quadratec sells it for $46, but it's only worth it if you plan on buying other things as well. Shipping for that by itself will run you another $10.

    Any color suggestions

Not too sure about that. I saw a Jeep the other day that had leopard print all over the body and hard top. Still not sure how I feel about that, but it was unique to say the least. At least it matched the interior.

    U-Joint and Hub Nut advice?

I'm pretty overdue in replacing some ball joints, and wonder if I shouldn't tackle the u-joint as well. I already took a look at stu-offroad's page, and having rented a ball joint press, it seems pretty do-able. I haven't heard any noise and there doesn't seem to be much play, but would it be a...

Mmmm... expresso. Gonna need it. I'm going to try my best today, found that there's two of em that need replacing. Thank you all so much for the advice! You've been amazingly helpful.

    CJ7 vs YJ vs TJ

Way to open a several-decade-old can of worms! I always wondered why the headlight thing mattered so much, maybe because you can't do this: OlllllO . Every time my car broke down, my friends (jeep-less friends even!) said it was because I had sqaure headlights - no joke. Someone mentioned a...

    Freeze Plugs?!

The oil looked to be the normal, I'm-dirty-please-change-me color. What else ought I look for? There wasn't anything on the underside of the oil cap, and my coolant was a nice green color that didn't seem to be leaking. Both those liquids have been changed out, so if I come across any issues...

    Freeze Plugs?!

Thanks so much for your quick replies! How do I go about a pressure check? Also, heh, since I need a new radiator cap, what is the difference between the pressure ratings and which one is most suitable? If it makes any difference, I put in a relatively new radiator over the summer, so nearly the...

    Freeze Plugs?!

I rolled into work this weekend amidst the tell-tale cloud of white smoke and chatter of a busted water pump. So I get a tow home, changed that out, flushed out the radiator, put in new upper and lower hoses, (thermostat was replaced 3-4 months ago btw), and did a motor flush and oil change for...
