    Need parts for my lift

There are some nylon bushings that have a metal sleeve and a greasable bolt, in addition to the regular bushings. Some vendors to try: Quadratec in West Chester, PA (quadratec.com) 4WD Hardware in Ohio (4wd.com) Tellico 4 x 4 (tellico4x4.com) Another local one for me is HOAK's 4WD...

    Uh....oh....!

Glad to hear you got it running. I had that problem when I did an engine swap - the cure was to run a 12V line to the auto choke (which we somehow missed). Some of the simplest things can cause lots of aggravation.

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

Fill the power steering pump with fluid. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the brakes. Be careful the first time you apply the brakes! They are strong! I have a soft pedal feel, but I need not press very hard for the brakes to hold. No more cramping at long red lights...

New PBR reservoir installed. The hood now closes.

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

The biggest hangup in my install was the reservoir. I got my unit all together and tried to shut the hood, but the reservoir was too tall. I cut a ¾” piece out of it and glue the two pieces together to make it shorter. All three times that I epoxied, super-glued, etc the plastic together...

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

Attach the hoses. (A power line from p.s. pump to hydro unit; power line from hydro unit to steering box; return line from steering box and hydro unit (tee them together) to the p.s. pump) I used my stock p.s. pump and steering box from my old AMC 360.

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

I needed to place an adapter block between the hydroboost and the master cylinder

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

Drill the holes in the firewall and mount the Hydroboost unit. I needed to place an adapter block between the hydroboost and the master cylinder as the unit had mounting holes at 30 degrees and the master cylinder has holes horizontal. (Again, get a COMPLETE unit so you have everything...

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

Be sure the plunge rod is long enough to keep the pedal extended.

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

The procedure: Remove the old manual unit. Align the new unit against the firewall with the hydroboost reservoir to the top. Measure the distance to your brake pedal and mark new holes for the unit. (It helps to have another person help you with this.) I needed to cut out about 2”...

    Installing Hydroboost brakes

Okay. It’s been a while since I indicated my desire to add hydroboost brakes to my 1981 CJ8; but that is because I ran into some problems in the process. My mechanic, and my son both encouraged me to get rid of the manual brakes and switch to hydroboost. They both recommended them over...

    HEI question

I like to go to the PA JEEP SHOW in York, PA (July 17 & 18 this year) and check out the swap meet. One vendor I always stop at is Z&M Jeeps (zmjeeps.com) He deals mostly in full sized Jeeps but has lots of parts. I got my H.E.I from him a few years ago.

    HEI question

Actually it wasn't that difficult. Had my "mechanic" son help me. We took off the old dist. cap and noted how it lined up (where #1 was pointing); then we pulled the old dist., removed the bottom gear and placed it on the HEI, inserted the HEI and locked it into place, again, noting where #1...

    HEI question

I put one on my 360 and love it. I got it from Zach at Z &M in Ohio. Yes, it's tight, but it fits. Here are some pics that might help you.

    Installing extended Jeep brake hoses

Nice article! I replaced all lines with stainless and had to use longer flex lines due to 2.5" lift. Nothing like new stainless!

Converting Manual to Power Assist Brakes

I swapped my manual for a hydroboost unit from a '97 Dodge Ram 2500. It's a bit more complicated than vacuum assist, but I have no trouble stopping now; and my leg does not cramp up pushing the pedal. Push too quickly and I will need to replace the windshield! Hoping to get an article...

[Pics]My Jeep is wrecked... can this be fixed?

Pretty minor compared to what happened to me last August. A 16 year old turned in front of me and I hit her with my driver's tire. Check for hidden damage, as I kept finding things the more I tore it apart. (New frame, new front suspension, new rebuilt transmission, etc.)

    Crt Hei?

You might want to look up Zack at zmjeeps.com. I bought one for my 360 two years ago and threw away the Ford ignition system, the coil and lots of wires. If memory serves me corrrect, I used the cam gear off the old distributor, so the gear problem you all suggest should not be a problem for...
