No Idea What To Do Next...HELP!

Case closed guys! Installed the fuel pump, coil and plugs. I put Autolite 65 plugs into...gapped them at .40. Anyway, primed up the carb and she fired right up! I'm thinking the main culprit was the fuel pump...maybe it was giving enough gas to idle in that traffic the other day but not...

No Idea What To Do Next...HELP!

Well...I think this is either coming down to a bad fuel pump. I couldn't even get it to crank this morning. Put a little fuel in the carb and it fired right up but only for a few seconds. Took the carb cover off and there is very little fuel getting to the carb at all. Went to Napa and ordered...

No Idea What To Do Next...HELP!

Ok thanks! Well, as far as I can tell, the carb isn't loading up anymore. We checked the timing yesterday and it was severely advanced so my thought was fuel wasn't getting burned off as it should. That problem seems to be fixed after timing was set..now its an issue of why it idled fine in...

No Idea What To Do Next...HELP!

Thanks Greg! Dang man...before I read your post, I was kinda thinking it might be vapor lock. While I was sitting on the side of the road today, I was looking at the fuel line....it runs directly under the header and it's not insulated. Well, after I realized it wasn't going to crank, my...

Guys...first of all...THANK YOU for all the replies! Ok..so, I had a guy check the timing this morning. It was advanced really bad so we got the timing set. It would crank up fine no problems. I took it out for a drive...tank was about empty so filled it up with ethanol free gas and...

No Idea What To Do Next...HELP!

One thing I failed to mention is this carb is a newly rebuilt Motorcraft 2100 so it may need adjusting but I'm pretty sure it's not directly related to the carb. Someone might ask why I bought a rebuilt 2100. Well, like an idiot, I cracked the base off the original when I was tightening it up...

No Idea What To Do Next...HELP!

This might be lengthy so bear with me. I'm at a loss so need some advice. I've got a 77 CJ7 with a 304. My steering box went bad so bought a replacement. I also wanted to pull my engine to paint it AMC blue. I didn't have the means to pull the engine so I found a guy to do it. Now, it was...

Question about Fiberglass Tub and Hard Doors

'77 CJ7....Does anyone know if a strike latch for hard doors will mount on a fiberglass tub? It doesn't seem like there's enough room to mount a latch but I could be wrong. Just curious if anyone has seen this done. Thanks.

Switch from manual to power steering

I've got an 86 CJ7 with a 258 inline 6. The jeep has a 3" lift with 35's and I need to switch the manual steering to power. What will I need besides a power steering pump? How difficult is this job too? I should mention that I have some fairly significant slack in the steering right now...

Failed Emission test - 1988 Cherokee Pioneer

I've got an 86 CJ7 with an inline 6 that failed emissions with a high CO2 level. I waited until I had 1/4 tank of fuel left, went to Home Depot and bought a gallon of denatured alcohol, poured it in and took a fast trip down the interstate. After about 10 minutes of this, I went straight over...

    258 vacuum hose question

Yeah...my only issue is emissions testing here in Tennessee. I'll have to figure out what I can get rid of.

    258 vacuum hose question

Well, I found the problem. If you look at the photo, in the upper left part of the picture there is a hose that was connected to the port coming out of the firewall. I have drawn a white line to where it was connected. As soon as I disconnected this hose, the engine immediately smoothed out...
